You'll definitely make great money. If you're good at it, you should get hired pretty quickly. Nothing personal, but your English doesn't look so great...there is a pretty tough exam that you need to pass, so you may need to study pretty hard to pass that exam in order to get certified to work on commercial airlines, which is where the major money is at.
Look, there are usually restaurants and bars near airports, right? A lot of airline mechanics usually hang out at these places. So go there and see if you can meet people who do this stuff for a living. Find these people and ask them questions. People love to talk about their jobs. They will help you, and sometimes, there are apprentice jobs or internships and if you meet the right people, you might be able to get some help getting these jobs. I grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and lived by the airport all my life. Everyone I knew worked at the airport at some point in their life. You want to work at the airport, hang out around the airport and meet people who work there. Even if you have to start out loading luggage on airplanes, start at the bottom and work your way up. When a company knows your face, and knows you're a hard worker, they're going to depend on you, pay for your education, and get you where you want to be.
Good luck!

Yes, you did! The well paid jobs are the flight mechanics. Those range anywhere from 15 to 32 dollars an hour depending on how good you become. I wouldn't want to work on used planes though I prefer working on new ones. So I don't know how much time it would take an airline to hire you. Good Luck

You made a great choice and the money will be good. For all its worth. Study and work very hard and get the best grade you can. If its a good school and you become one of the better mechanics, the school will match you to a company. I kid you not, you'll have to work at it very hard to become good. It worked for me as a car mechanic. And to me a tech, just replaces parts, a mechanic knows how to fix it. Go for it and good luck Mark.

Don't even think about it. There is no job security, pay and benefits have decreased substantially in the past few years with no improvement in sight. Many aircraft mechanics have also either lost or had their pensions reduced.
Pick another career!!
Are any of the previous respondents mechanics?

You should make much better money and have better benefits than those of us who work on non winged things.
If it is what you enjoy, you will love it.
