A little less than 3 years ago, I was 5'1" and weighed 103, and I'm now almost 5'4" but I weigh 142. My diet/excercise has not really changed much over those years, and so I'm not really sure why I gained all that weight! And it seems like whenever I try to lose weight, it never works. I'm still in my young teens so I know I'm still growing, but still - it doesn't make sense, because I barely grew a couple inches but put on a ton of weight. I don't want it to be a continueing thing, because in a couple years I would be obese! I am considering talking to a doctor about it, but I was wondering if this has happened to anybody else before or somebody you know? Or if you know anything about this in general?

Your body is changing rapidly - that's what it does at your age. But make sure your habits are healthy.

You may not be exercising much, which means that your body hasn't built up much muscle. Since muscle burns calories 24-7, a lack of muscle makes it easy for you to put on extra weight.

Try to work up to 4-5 days a week, 30-45 minutes a day. That alone can get you into great shape. Walking, running, biking, swimming can all do this.

How well are you eating? You could try keeping a food diary. When you start, don't worry about counting fat or calories, just notice how much and what you are eating. Start learning what foods are good and bad.

Just seeing it written down can be a surprise - you don't always notice how much you really eat when you eat it, but you sure notice when you look at yourself in the mirror.

Watching what you eat helps you stay focused and eat healthier. If you are gaining weight or not seeing results after a month, start adding up every calorie, to find the best way for you to either cut back your eating, or add some healthy protein or fat sources.

Muscle mass weighs more than fat, so perhaps your extra height is muscular. Also, there are factors such as slowing of metabolism that people don't always think about. When you are very happy, your body burns calories at an increased rate. When you are not as happy, your metabolism slows down. Only you know the actual facts of your life.
People don't like to talk to teens about weight because there is so much negativity surrounding 'perfect' figures, but on the other hand, Americans are obese !
If I had to guess, I would suspect that you are not getting enough exercise to balance your caloric intake. But, you are the one who really knows. It is my opinion that the medical field has failed in this field, because the field should not be medicine, it should be Diet and Fitness, exactly as you categorized it. Good Luck !

Did you start taking drugs like birth control pills? See this site either way. Good carbs like celery and carrots will never make you fat. Bad carbs like cake will, but you don't need to know the whole science of glycemic index and load. It is mostly NOT your fault, if you need to lose weight. The way we have been taught to eat is responsible for making obesity the number one health problem in the world (according to Atlantic Monthly magazine) replacing hunger and infectious disease. You need to re-learn how to eat so you can become thin. Not a diet, but diet lifestyle.

Find out about fastest way to lose weight, gradual ways to lose weight, most effective exercise, good and bad carbs and anti-water. Lose bodyfat and retained water which also makes you a lot fatter (bloated). Most important-- make sure to read the last "fat loss tip", first before anything else, to see the number one food that causes Americans to be fat.

as your hormones change so does your weight unfortunately. i went from a size 3 to a size 15 in about a yr because of my hormones. However the upside is i went from a size 15 back to a size 4 in about 6 months. i would suggest talking to a dr if you feel that you are gaining to much weight to quickly. it never hurts to get a professional opinion, there maybe more going on than you think. weight gain or loss for that matter can be an underlying symptom of many things.

Well i suggest you go to the gym daily and eat more healthy stuff or some unhealthy food but moderately.Dont eat too little as you are still growing but dont overeat. When you think you are full STOP eating. If you are tempted to eat a little more, don't do it unless it is a healthy food.In a few years you will eventually loose weight as you get taller and the weight "spreads" all over you body.

Homeopathic Treatment for Excessive Fat and Weight :-
PHYTOLACCA BERRY's Mother Tincture is perhaps the safest and sure fire way of loosing excessive fat around abdomen. With Phytolacca Berry once you loose the excessive fat and weight you don't get it back because you body takes care of itself after that and keeps you from gathering up excessive fat. It is prescribed after having a baby too, to get the tummy to loose its flab and to make it flatter and tighter. And after loosing weight with this you don't get flabby it tightens up the flab and skin along with helping your body to shed the excessive accumulation of fat around the girth
The dosage is 15 to 20 drops of the tincture in half a cup of hot water thrice a day half hour before or after meals.
Avoid Chocolates, Coffee, Mints, Red Meat and Carbonated and Alcoholic drinks while taking Homeopathic Medicines. You have to take it for at least 30 to 45 days after that you start to feel the results.
To the best of my knowledge its the safest and the most sure fire way of loosing fat and weight and keeping it of for keeps. Excellent remedy for Obese people who cant seem to shed weight despite trying.
Homeopathic Remedies can be found at all Major Herbal Stores or could be bought on line, In most of the world Homeopathic remedies are quite cheap and easy to find and they do not need a prescription.
Take care and God Bless !

P.S
Regular active exercise is advised with all weight loosing medicines and remedies :-) Take care

Try cutting out all sugar type drinks; that includes juices, soft drinks, etc. Drink only milk and water.
