If he presented them as miracles yes.
However a lot of what he does on his show today couldn't have been accomplished back in those days. But I'm sure (especially if he had his crew with him too) he would be doing the equivalent.
Much of what Jesus is attributed could have been Criss Angel like illusions... for all we know Jesus could have been a master magician. That would definitely explain some things.
There are stories throughout history of magicians that were revered as wizards, witches, fortune tellers... even prophets.

At least if he lived then [and not now] I wouldn't have to see his freakin' shows all over TV. Not one of my favorites, but hey, love those differences in people's idea of entertainment!
As for your question, I'm sure a lot of people did do stunts like this and had religions built around them [not talking about Jesus yet, here]. Since those religions we based solely on a charismatic leader's ability to capture the attention and fascination of the people, I doubt they lasted after the trickster died. However, there could have been others who added a little fire and brimstone to the action, gave people something to believe in, a hope for a better future, even built upon existing religions. That kinda thinking could last millennia.

Well... Criss Angel ROCKS!!
With that said... Jesus wasn't the first person to "perform tricks" as we see even in Moses times there were magicians. It wasn't a few nifty parlor tricks Jesus did that made people believe Him. It was more His words, His actions and lets not forget the healing. It's really hard to fake healing like leprosy you know?

>No. Criss Angel is believable, therefore nothing resembling any of the known monotheistic religions would have resulted.<

He uses technology to do his illusions. 2k years ago, all his tricks would've been impossible. Except for the levitation one. He revealed how he did it and there was no special things aside from a hole in his pant leg.

He would be some religion's Jesus. He would, like Jesus, never actually claim to be the son of god, but years after his death a pagan emperor would decide to define him as being divine.

I would love to see this stuff live. It's too easy to fake stuff on videos using people who are in on it to make it seem more real.
