Christians don't want to prove it, they believe it. The whole essence of faith is that you don't require proof.
The Roman Catholic church rejects the concept of Intelligent Design in part because that is essentially a search for proof of god, and that is therefore heretical. (The Vatican astronomer recently gave an interesting lecture on this point).
Incidentally, I am an atheist, but I do understand and have studied the belief systems of others - you have to if you are really going to reject the concepts they represent.

Christians don't need proof that Jesus is the God the Son. However, I get asked almost daily about why I believe (1 Peter 3:15.)
It was before I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior that I found out a couple of things:
1. The Bible is the only scriptural text that is used as an archeological textbook for a specific region, because of it's historical accuracy.
2. The Bible has been authenticated by contemporary third party sources.
This turns out to be only the beginning...the further you dig to try to prove the Bible to be inaccurate or contrived, the more evidence that you find to the contrary. You can't prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Jesus is God the Son, but you can't dismiss it as myth, either.

Proving that Jesus is God, has only been done through examining historical documents that lend credibility to the claim. The claim has been held from the conception of the Church by those who witnessed his life, death, and resurrection. They didn't try to prove anything and had a thorough knowledge of what had happened. So are you implying that they had no faith? You assume faith is belief in the impossible, but biblical faith is a belief in an actual person that results in a changed lifestyle not just an accent to some knowledge. The disciples knew who Jesus was and asked him to help them with their faith even after they witnessed the miracles he performed. It wasn't that they didn't believe in the miracles, they simply wanted to have the ability to put their lives in his hands, what we call trust. If we proved that Jesus was the son of God scientifically, that would not change one thing concerning our eternal destiny except that we would have even less pitiful excuses than we already pretend to have now for rejecting the gift of eternal life in Him.

You can't prove Jesus was the son of God anymore than you can prove Muhammad is God. It is a question of faith. If you have faith, you don't look for proof. And I don't think Christians are trying to prove that Jesus is the son of God...they simply talk about their beliefs just like any other faith.

True Christians want to tell people of the Goodness of the Lord and have others come to him, because we want to see others go to heaven.... I KNOW Jesus is the Son Of God. And I live by faith everyday. I cannot convince anyone.... That is where Faith comes in the picture.... You see The Lord deals with each individulas heart. And you either accept Jesus or you don't.... Jesus has to call on your heart and soul, before you can become saved and you will know what Faith is at that point. you have all kinds of believers in Jesus, but not followers of Jesus.... it's easy to believe, but is it easy to follow?

As a Christian, I don't want to prove anything...it's a matter of faith. I choose to believe. How could I "prove" a man who walked on this earth 2,000 years ago, before I was ever born, was the son of a God I've never seen? The only thing I can prove is what a difference he has made in my life as a result of my faith and belief in him.

You're looking at this backwards. People are Christians not because they are trying to prove that Jesus was the Son of God, but because they have come to believe He was, and have made a decision accordingly. Then because they believe in Him and He has changed their lives, Christians are compelled to share that with other people. It's not a matter of proving anything, all Christians can do is sow seed and see if any of it will come back bearing fruit.
So once again, let me teach Logic 101 in Yahoo! Answers.....a faulty premise can never lead to a logical conclusion. Nice try, though.

1. people don't go to heaven or hell when they die see 1 Thessalonians 4:16 and Acts 2:34
2. If Jesus isn't the son of God then he wasn't a very good person because He lied to a lot of people.
3. If I believe on Him and I'm wrong so I've wasted 60 or seventy years.
4. If you don't believe on Him and your wrong you've wasted eternity with Him.

Actually if they prove that Jesus is the son of God then they all have been committing a great big sin. They pray to Jesus and have Jesus symbols. They are putting another God before their own God who made them. Can't have it both ways people. Pick one or the other.

We Christians believe Jesus is the Son of God because the Bible says so. You believe what you read in the paper but not what you read in the Bible? It is important to us to show you 1. Because it is what we believe and we don't want you to go to Hell
2. The Great Commission says "Go ye into all the world preaching the Gospel in the NAME of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. We are following the commandment set forth.
We walk by fatih not by sight. Sight = Proof
You have no PROOF that what you read in the paper is so either - yet you still believe it.

When people say, "Stupid, it says it in the Bible", thats pretty much the stupidest thing I have ever heard. The bible is a book WRITTEN by MAN. It is supposed to be taken NON literally but when people arent intelligent, they cant think beyond that. It has so much allegorical, metaphysical, and spiritual meaning, but is NOT truth or FACT.
Hey just look at SCIENTOLOGY! Its based on books by a SCIENCE FICTION writer. If that can happen in half a century, imagine what can happen with over 2000 years of Christianity!
