I do believe that a being of this very world can BECOME immortal, though not in the sense of which you're assuming. I'm not talking about vampires or any of the other Undead characters of which you may be thinking. And no, I'm not even talking about Highlander, although I loved the movies and more specifically the show featuring Adrian Paul, I believe that people of this world can become immortal in a different manner. To become immortal can indeed mean more than just allowing ones body to roam through eons untouched by time itself, but more an idea spawned of a person would do just as well. Take Jesus Christ or Buddah for example, regardless of your religious beliefs or lack therof, Jesus Christ IS immortal simply because Christianity is so abundant that neither the man, nor idea will ever be forgot. This could hold true to virtually anyone. The only question is , whom? My eyes are open. There can be only one.

The Egyptians believed that as long as you were remembered, as long as your name was spoken, carved, written or your likeness was somehow painted on a tomb or memorial, you would remain immortal.
Perhaps this is why we still have gravestones, or crave to be on film. For immortality.
Now as far as living forever, hmmmm
Theoreticly, If nanotechnology were to get up to speed (able to repair the body, cure illnesses such as AIDS and Diabetes), then I guess Immortality could be a reality, but you'd be more machine that human. Kinda like a borg.....
anyways, I'm ranting....

Vampire, no....humans and birds dont mix. However, spirutally yes, for it is said that it is for us to only acknowledge our oneship with God and understand that we are immortal and we are so. As far as spiritual beings roaming the earth, hoping a train, haunting our homes, no....spirutality is:
From Wikipedia:
Spirituality is, in a narrow sense, a concern with matters of the spirit. The spiritual, concerning as it does eternal verities regarding Man's ultimate nature, is often contrasted with the temporal or the worldly. The central defining characteristic of spirituality is a sense of connection to a much greater whole which includes an emotional experience of religious awe and reverence. As with some forms of religion, the emphasis of spirituality is often on personal experience. It may be an expression for life perceived as higher, more complex or more integrated with one's worldview, as contrasted with the merely sensual. In Eastern traditions, spirituality (adhyatma) is also defined as that which pertains to the soul (atma).

Its not a question of becoming immortal, you are immortal, the gross material body is simply a temporary covering of the eternal soul, the material body is constituted of molecules and atomic particles, protons, neutrons, electrons etc, they are constantly changing by bonding, debonding and rebonding, every seven years they replace themselves, so the body you are in now is different to the body you had seven years ago, so there is no question as to the validity of reincarnation, because each living entity that is embodied in a material form is changing at every moment and completely every seven years.
This is the gross covering, the subtle or astral covering, is constituted of mind, intelligence and false ego, the mind is also changing due to various forms of conditioning and conformity to the type and age of the material body,
False ego means to accept yourself to be molecules and atomic particles, namely the material body and real ego means to accept one's self as eternal spirit soul, eternal means that the soul has no beginning and the soul has no end, the soul is immortal.
So you are not a material person, who may have a spiritual experience, actually you are a spiritual person having a material experience.

You are already immortal. It just that you have a limited time here on this earth. After the body dies, the real you will continue on in the spiritual realm of heaven or either hell.

I have a hard time believing you can believe in vampires but not God.As far as Wicca it is a religion of its own. Vampires are not a religion just a dead person real or not.I believe a immortal is some one who can not be killed vampires can be killed.

No, but I do believe that Jesus will come back from the dead so I guess in a sense I must believe that someone can be immortal. Good question.
