I know time varies because of cancelations and other things!! My husband left on Friday and hasn't made it home yet. I was just curious to see if it has taken someone a week or more. I was hoping to see him after 48 hours lol stupid me.

I don't need comments like the first one. It's very insensitive. I don't need anyone telling me to "just be thankful he is coming home" either. I am greatful that he is coming home, alive.
I do know things get cancelled, I'm an Army brat. I just was doing a poll I guess. Thanks to people that are seriously answering my question.

erudite is an idiot. Any way, it took my hubby about a week to get to Iraq this time. When he cam home last time it took about 4 days however that's AF, I think the Army and Marines might take some more time to help soldiers decompress depending on what kind of action they saw. Congratulations on his impending homecoming, you must be so relieved!

It can take a while depending on what he is doing in the process of leaving. When my unit left Iraq, we were stuck for several weeks in Kuwait preparing our equipment for redeployment home. Think about what he does in the Army. Is he in a unit with heavy equipment like tanks, bradleys, bridge layers, etc? A unit with moderate euqipment like Infantry, MPs, or those kind of HMMWV operations? Or is he in a lighter unit that is just personel and admin? The heavy the unit, the longer it will take. Even if your husband had an admin job, if he was admin for an Armor unit, he'd have to waIt with them. I bet you will atleast hear from him within 4 days time from his depature from Iraqi territory.

There's no reason to worry yet, It took a friend of mine a week to get from one camp to another in Iraq. It took me 4 days to get to the east coast from a base with direct flights to Kuwait only twice a week. If he is flying to the west coast add a few days for weather or flight delays because most flights fly to the east coast ,Atlanta or Dallas. I am sure he will call as soon as he gets the chance.

I believe it took my husband 3 days. He had to sit in Kuwait for a while, then sit somewhere in Europe for a while, then sit in Atlanta for a while, then he made it home. :)
It depends on if he's coming home because it's the end of the deployment or if he's coming home from leave. If he's coming home on leave, I'd expect him in the next 24 hours....but it can take up to a week.

First, let me point out something, actually say something to erudite's response.....once again your typical ill-thought out response, you pontificating A**hole. OH, I forgot, you claim to have served but there has been wide held comment that you are lying. But I digress.
My cousin was in Iraq and it took him 6 days to get home and he was in the air force. I was over there for 18 months as a DoD contractor and some of the army guys I worked with told me that their friends typically took up to 10 days to return back to their home base in the states. Some went to military bases in Europe for stress reduction or medical check-ups. Others were bumped to later flights home for various reasons. Don't worry, your husband will be home sooner than you think. As a former army officer, thanks for supporting him and please thank him for his service.

I think it may take a week or so. My cousin came home last month and it took 8 days from when he left. Be thankful that he is coming home.
