Have at it, We are going to sit back over here and watch all of you blow each other all to hell and say, WELL VERN, IT LOOKS LIKE THEY WILL NEVER LEARN.
If America wasn't in it., They would'nt be fighting.

Wouldn't that be great! Too bad that history is against even the most remote possibility that all war would end. There have been wars and conflict in the middle-East for over 2000 years...long before there was even a USA, let alone our involvement there.

Tribal Arab wars, regional wars, family vendettas, country on country warfare, religious warfare...all have occurred prior to our entry into the region and all would continue at some level if we pulled out.

Also, like it or not, America has interests in the region....yes, oil is number one on the list. I was in the middle-East for a while and I am somewhat ashamed to admit that there was a time or two in various countries I thought that if it wasn't for the oil and the wealth it brought the majority of these countries would be inhabited by a population comprised mainly of Bedouin (meaning nomadic, without a high degree of industry or technology and not in a derogatory way) people and of little concern to the USA international interests.

No the war would not stop. There will always be someone in another country or countries that will find a way to be at war with someone. The Middle East has been having wars for centuries. Look at the Romans under Ceaser as one example.
No, in my opinon even if America wasn't in the war, financial or with troops the different religions and sects would still be trying to kill each other.

Yes, the war would stop. I fought in Kosovo and Iraq and I understand the difference between a culture needing our help and a country that never wanted us. If we left, they would fight for a few months to wrap up thier decision on who is the top turban, and then it would be over. We complain that the middle east doesn't know how to have peace, but then again, we are ALWAYS pokng them with a stick until they strike us. Bring us home, we are tired of fighting for Iraq when Iraq doesn't want us. American soldiers want to guard America; that's we signed up for.

No, I don't think the fighting would stop. Most of the fighting going on over there right now isn't between the Americans and the locals, but in fact it is one group of people against another. Those people have been battling years before the U.S. ever stepped in and it won't stop until one group is completely annihilated or both are wiped out.

No, the fighting would not stop. But protecting our interests in that region would come to an end.

See, the radical Islamic fundamentalists (terrorist) have as their mission, per the Koran, or so they say, control of the world. If they can not convert the infidel (non believers) to Islam, it is there duty to kill them.

The terrorist are on a campaign now that is exactly what Hitler was doing in Europe prior to WWII. Exactly.

They tried that in Viet Nam and the comunists took over in less than a week after the americains had deemed the South Viet Namese "able to defend themselves" and pulled out.

Afganistan was called Russia's Viet Nam, and Iraq has been called called America's second Viet Nam.

No the war would not end. This country seems to survive on the attention we all give it . Ignore it and like a spoiled child they will always do some destructive thing to gain recognition again I say we stay and give it our best shot to help end the terrorists. Try to wipe them out.

I believe that if the United States were to do that then the whole region would become even more stable. Iraq would fall into civil war between the Sunnis and Shiites, India would take over Kashmir, Iran would bolster its nuclear arsenal even more then it already it, it would just fall into to even more chaos. However, I believe that we should just let Iraq fall into civil war since that is inevitable anyways.

Will the war stop? No.
Will the war stop as we know it? Yes
Will pulling out of the war possibly prevent a world war, as it seems that we are headed right now? Hopefully.

All we can do is pray. Pray for a new president.
