Freedom isn't about doing what you feel like. It's about being able to make your own informed decisions and act on them. Everything comes at a price, even doing what you feel like doing. Freedom is being able to choose whether what you want is worth the price and the ability to buy it or decide that the price is too high. The ignorant and short-sighted will never understand the privilege and responsibility of true freedom.

Perhaps a clear mind-set is needed to focus more on FREEDOM! A healthy attitude prolongs lifespan anyway!

O.K. by physical activities you are obviously ruling out addictions of any kind, so that makes it a little tougher...the first thing that pops into my mind is that movie Fight Club. "You have to give up. You have to realize that someday you will die, untill you realize that you are use less." If you simply give up all preconcieved notions of what you think you should be or who you think you, you would stop doing what you feel like doing. With no mental noise left to let you know who or what you truly are, you would indeed be free to do what you were meant to do not what you feel.

Actually, yes, there is much truth in this.

Those who do whatever they feel like doing are in danger of becoming slaves to their compulsions or desires. Consider what it is that binds you, that controls you.

Think about desire, and the trouble that it gets you in. Wanting that item on the shelf, wanting what your neighbour has, wanting that girl, wanting that feeling that you think will make you happy... until it wears off, and you go looking again to duplicate that feeling.

But nothing ever really feels like that first time, if it was a good experience. And no two experiences are alike anyway. So we are perpetually chasing ghosts.

if i say jump, and you happen to feel like jumping but don't do it for some other principle is STILL freedom.

perhaps you're not able to reconcile the request to jump. perhaps in that particular case you feel the person requesting you jump is gaining at your cost.

were you a jester like me, you'd understand. but most prefer NOT to be the jester and for good reason.

i happen to feel right at home to jump when someone says jump. i can jump and make a face, i can let out some gas... whatever, i'm expressing my free will. if you don't want to jump, don't. if you do, but don't, perhaps you're confused about something or maybe you think too much about consequences.

Freedom is able to vote, Freedom is able to walk to the corner store and not worry about being bombed, Freedom is not doing anything if that is what I choose to do. Freedom is being able to choose my own religion, Freedom is to raise my children as I see fit, Freedom is why our solders are dying. USA!

Do you mean like having freedom from your physical needs or primal urges? i.e. being able to control your desires rather than allowing your desires to control you? I find your question interesting but confusing.

That is exactly why the Lord gave us our free agency, to do what we wanted, knowing the consequences.

Yes Mam. If you wish not to do something, you're free to do so...therefore it's freedom.
