There was never any question of power. There was a queston of God's right to rule.
Satan charged let them learn from thier mistakes, you don't have any right to tell them what to do. Of course he was wanting to rule. 1/3 of the angels followed Satan and came to earth and was corrupted. Rev 12: tells how they did this.
Leaving their possisions in heaven came to earth and took the daughters of men as wives. Had he destroyed them at that time there would have always been a doubt in the angels mind.
Was Satan right? So enough time had to be allowed to prove we really can't do it. We need the help of God.
The chapter shows how a war broke out in heaven and micheal and his angels battled with Satan and his angels. Satan was cast out of heaven and down to our earth. Shortly to be destroyed. Because we have proven we can't do it alone.

Yes, God could kick the devil's butt.
I think the problem with trying to think about God is that our minds can only handle so much. For example, the universe is extremely large, and yet God knows every little intricate detail about every individual star, or the hairs on your head, or what's going on in the ground with insects and stuff.
Because we don't know the true nature of God (beyond what's written in the Bible), some people don't think God is really there, but God also gave us free will, so that the ones that do choose to love God are doing so because they want to, not because God automatically made robots to love Him (it would feel pretty shallow if you made stuff that loved you automatically, rather than choosing to do it on their own).

God's power is struggling against other forces at work that are beyond control. There also isn't a devil. It is a myth the Catholics made up to instill fear into you for your entire life. Lucifer the Arch Angel of white light is the "original devil" because God cast him down from heaven because he questioned God. Samiel, also known as Satan was the Arch Angel who descended of HIS OWN FREE WILL. Samiel was the serpent to tempted eve in the garden. If God can test her why not the so called fallen angels.

Any kind of devil is ultimately subserviant to the Supreme God.
God can do anything, but I don't know about the time travel issue. Maybe it just isn't possible to travel back in time to change something.
Sometimes we think God is easy to understand and sometimes we take Him for granted, but there are many mysteries regarding the existence of God and the Supreme Being.

God doesn't even have the power to control the outcome of a coin toss. Don't believe me? Try this.
Step 1: Flip a coin 100 times. How many heads did you get? About 50.
Step 2: Flip a coin 100 times while praying for it to land heads each time. How many heads did you get? About 50.
Step 3: Maybe God didn't affect the outcome because it wasn't important to him. Okay, repeat step 2 while killing an ant for every tails. How many heads did you get? About 50.
Step 4: Maybe God doesn't care about ants. Okay, repeat step 2 while punching your best friend in the face for every tails. How many heads did you get? About 50.
Step 5: Maybe God doesn't care at about the pain of humans. Okay, you can be a total sadist and repeat step 2 while murdering a random stranger for every tails. How many heads will you get? About 50.
Either God totally doesn't care about human life, or he doesn't even have the power to control the outcome of a coin toss.

God has the power to save us from the devil, the spirit of this world, and to resurrect us from this world, the world of the dead, to Life in the world of the Living. He alone has the power to do this as long as we call upon his Name in everything we do and say.

God is everything. He is the first and the last and has power over everyone, everything, and all. Satan is here now, but by the time of revelation, the believers will be separated from the non-believers, and Satan will be destroyed.
