I'm sorry - I'm not in Australia but my curiosity is killing me. What is "Pigging"? You all have fantastic slang - my cousin lives there and her emails crack me the hell up. ;)

Excuse me. I'm not in Australia, but am an avid wild hog hunter. By 'pigging' I assume you mean hunting/trapping wild hogs?

Years ago I saw a movie entitled "Razorback" that took place in Australia. Leading hog in movie was a full ton (2,000 lbs.) in weight? Do hogs ever actually get close to that weight in Australia, or was that totally fiction?

The record hog in Texas (my home State in the USA) was 675 lbs. I have seen a 500 pounder taken by a friend at my hunting camp one year, and my own 'record' was only 350 lbs.

Close to the City of Monterrey (Mexico) I saw an incredible, stuffed hog head. It was bigger than the head of a Brahman bull. I couldn't put my arms around its neck. The manager of the restaurant where the hog head was displayed, was thrilled to finally find someone else who spoke English (he was from New York in Mexico 20 years) and rolled out the red carpet for me. He informed me that the hog had been shot close to where we were and that it had weighted 750 kilos. If my math is correct, that is more than 1,500 lbs. The hog had four tusks that were broken and splintered but were still more than six inches in length.

I've been meaning to go back and photograph that head, but my brother tells me that the restaurant has re-located. That was about ten years ago.

Appreciate it if you can share any stories about hogs.

Thanks,

H
