Pancha, it's pure paranoia. Truthfully, I think Yars knows more about these latino groups than I do, and like you, I have learned more about them here. I deal with Mexican immigrant help on visas via the U. L. Labor Department. It seems to me these groups are populated more by legal Mexican Americans, don't you? As a kid, I may have heard Lulac and LaRaza in passing while I was in college; I was too much of a nerd; guess they weren't recruiting non-militant types. I was too busy getting academically grounded. I do not relate to these groups at all, anymore than Yars and Dars do to the KKK.
I tend to agree with your take on this one.

The question back to you would be, how much change are you willing to accept? Are you comfortable with the idea that 45% of the population will one day be Hispanic?
I am not comfortable with that. Mexico, Latin and South America are a mess. These are not model societies. Yes, we bear some of the blame, but really the time has come in this country to find ways to make the world a better place to live in. We cannot expect that America will forever be the place to go for a better life. Why don't Mexicans want to have a better nation..and why don't we want that as well??
And of course when this all goes down in the next 20 years, will the Canadians let some of us immigrate there??
I sure hope so...

You say..The illegals don't know what the hell aztlan is. the aztlan is a group that has come here illegaly to reclaim what they feel is theirs, namely California. How is that becoming American. they are criminals, hence the phrase "illegals" which you acknowledge in your question. For the most part they do not learn english, even after having been here for many years, how is that becoming american. in the past legal immigrants did every thing they could to learn the language and to become part of american society. look at history, were the schools required to teach in other lanquages, were DMV booklets printed in other lanquages, ballots also. no. because the people learned english, studied and became citizens.
I don't know what you are talking about with the KKK, I don't think you do either, they don't hardly exist anymore, where are they active? haven't heard of them any where in this situation.
you say...to become Americans (eventually). when, how long will it take for them to start learning the lanquage, 10 years, 15 years?
I live in L.A. and and you try and talk to a "mexican" on the street or behind the counter in a store and they don't know what you are saying. look at the ads for jobs and more and more are saying --bilinqual preferred,--spanish speaking a plus. is that because the "illegals"--to quote you-- are becoming americans or because the americans are being forced to become like them.

The biggest mistake these illegals could ever have made was when on their demonstrations they carried not the American flag but the flag of Mexico! That fact combined with their sheer number of approximately 20 million does give reason to the entire American nation to mistrust them, no matter what their real intentions may be! Holding up the Mexican flag on American soil in a demonstration like that was an unforgivable mistake!
Even if it is only a dream, does that showing of the Mexican flag not give reason to think, that these people may be dreaming of someday raising this same Mexican flag over the White House?
If they really want to become Americans they would have gained much sympathy among Americans, if they would have shown the American flag and not the flag of Mexico or any other foreign country!
The Mexican flag should be raised and carried in Mexico and not in the USA!

Ohhh please...no country experiences more change than the U.S. This country prides its self on new innovations (change). It is the fear of change and loss of an already outdated cultural philosophy that (in part) keeps countries like mexico and others from experiencing the sheer growth and power that America has. Very few countries have been able to do this. Japan is a perfect example of how a country can recognize how "tradition" is nothing but a stumbling block for change. Japan was successful in it's transformation only because it was practically obliterated in the war and saw they needed to re-structure their cultural philosophy. If comparing mexico and America it would seem that mexico is the country that is has the fear of change. Otherwise it would be the great nation that it could be..like japan..a highly respected trend setting nation and economy.

im half "native american and half scott" one side of my family, which is the indian side, was told that not very many people from the lands accross the sea would be coming. and that they would be free to hunt and multiply and have no worries. they would be able to do as they wish. after all they were here before the new settlers. but then more and more came and wars were started and killings took place all for a peice of land. a childs and mothers life was taken so that the white man can destroy the land and kill off the animals that were sacred to these people .and still they were told that there would be no more people coming here. a take over might be a strong word to you but to the elders of my tribe, these were what came to pass. the american culture is one of bloodshed and lies. the settlers did it. why wouldnt the illegals?

No, I do not agree with you at all. I do not believe the illegal immigrants really do want to gain American citizenship. If that were the case, coming here illegally sure is NOT the right way for them to be going, now is it? If they really want to gain American citizenship, they would apply through the proper procedures. No, they just want to work and make money and then go back home when they are ready to retire. It is only American pro-illegal immigrant people who think the illegal immigrants really want citizenship. Maybe a very small number of them would like it, but I believe the majority of them could care less if they get American citizenship, or not.

Coming here wanting to be an American is one thing, there are proper channels to do this, the illegal immigrants come in here are breaking the law! The Factories that hire them are breaking the law! As far as I am concerned, the rules and regulations for becoming a legal American are still too soft! They firstly need to know how to speak our language! I am not saying they shouldn't use their own but before they can be a citizen they should be able to understand ours! Example, An Indonesian girl came to work and got a job as a lab assistant. I myself dont find Asian girls the least bit attractive but I pride myself in being helpful to my fellow employees. Her inability to understand what I said caused her to file a sexual harassment charge. I SAY IF YOU WANT TO BE AN AMERICAN ACT LIKE ONE, LEARN OUR HISTORY AND HERITAGE, AND LEARN OUR LANGUAGE! Our children here are required to pass a history test, so should an alien! As far as the people who say "we need cheap labor to help our factories become more competitive in the world market". What a bunch of B.S.! Some of our companies make 800 percent profit on their products! I worked in a switch manufacturing company for 14 years. Got the info on what the actual cost of manufacturing a single switch was from injection molding to packaging. 25 cents! The switch when it hit the shelf cost between 45 and 50 dollars. Whats wrong with this picture? When they hire cheap help do we see a reduction in the product cost? H NO! As far as I am concerned the best thing our government could do right now is put a profit cap on manufacturing and tax the beejeesus on imports and ANY CEO or stockholder who doesnt like it can move their factory to another country and sell its products there!!

Bull ****! I have lived in Arizona for 23 years and I have see the first hand bigotry that goes on. and guess what it ain't the whites that are bigots it's the Mexicans They will tell you it's their country and we should get out. I've heard crap like if there is a war between the Mexicans and Americans they would side with the Mexicans. We are talking the legal immigrants saying that. I have actually had people live close by me that were Mexican American. Great people great kids, and their loyalty still is with the illegals. People need to get a clue. Check out the stats of illegals that have committed hideous crimes in phoenix.
