Of course! Men have or should have the same rights as women if they have custody.
Not many men would be capable of taking on such a responsibility. Good on you, hope you are coping......not an easy job, one sole parent to another.
I do not receive any support from my ex, he won't pay, and he has moved on and doesn't care so I admire you.

Yes, if a man is supporting the child, he should receive "child support" from the other half that helped make the child.
Seems fair, and I know it is a legal requirement in cases where the father gets custody.

Of course you do! Guys need the financial support as much as women do. If the mother isn't responsible enough to have custody (not that she has a priority for custody), then she should have to help support her child. Even if you make enough money to support the two of you comfortably, the mother should be required to contribute. It's not right for either parent to suffer the financial difficulties that parenthood brings....alone. The child was made together, it should be paid for.... together. If you are financially secure, and can afford to take care of the child, then use the support checks for your child's college education. Begin putting them away now, and they will accumulate and build interest nicely. Good Luck!

Yes, it is OK for a Father with custody to collect Child Support. Unfortunately, if the mother does not pay, you will find there are 2 sets of rules applying to the collection. Dead beat Dad's go to jail. Dead beat mom's get letters saying how bad they are being. I was suppose to be collecting for my 3 children after my wife followed the bottle right out of our lives, and she pays when she feels like it. always the minimum, and she never has to claim her tips. But I am very Proud to call myself a man every time I hear of another Father stepping up to do what is right regarding the children's welfare. Thank you, and Great job!!!!!!

yes- it shouldn't matter if your the (ex) husband or the (ex) wife. If you have to take care of the kids then you should recieve child support. the idea of men not being able to recieve child support is kind of like alamony. it's a good idea but is outdated because many women have jobs. so don't worry about it. If she got the kids you would probably have to pay it. have a great day and i hope this helps!

You are just as entitled as she.
If you were both still living together and the kids needed shoes, coats, school supplies, lunch money, money for a friends birthday gift, both of you would see that the child got when she/he needed.
THAT is what child support is for. It doesn't matter if a man or a women collects as long as the children have what they need!
