at that time they were sinners, thay why he got angry and broke those laws and had to go up and write them again.

Yes they did, the whole moral to that story is to remember what God did for them that why they went through 400 years of oppression. They turn on God before they even left the land. Then God curse Israel and they never made it to the promise land. They forgot him because Moses was on the Mountain for 40 days and they got impatient and serve other gods that they knew not. 400 years of oppression taught them nothing it would be different if it was a few years of oppression, but 4 generation of it. Surely maybe 400 years of oppression would teach them what God can do because they did not have the power to do it theirself. When I see this story all I think of is what happen to blacks 400 years of oppression taught them nothing and they have forgot God as soon after that generation got equal rights in the 1960's. But it don't help when others tell you to forget it because some don't want to hear about it. When in fact they encourage blacks to forget that and that God ended that and not any man.

Yes, that is correct. Coming out of Egypt, they reverted to gods and religious customs that they had seen in Egypt, even after seeing the Miracles that God worked through Moses! The calf-idol is one such example.
After entering the "Promised Land", they often went to the countries around them and adopted their pagan gods and worship practices. The Baals and Ashtoreths are infamous, as are Dagon and Molech. These "gods" and "goddesses" demanded sexual acts as worship, in return for fertility (fields and wombs), as well as child sacrifice. Going to "church" was definately NOT a good thing for family life back then.
The 70 odd year Babylonian Captivity pretty much ended the urge to worship idols. The people returning to Judea were a little more "tuned in" to being God's people, instead of selling out for a good time.

The Israelites had lived in Egypt for over 400 years and had, over that time, adopted many of the Egyptian gods as their own.
When Moses was gone for 40 days picking up the commandments, they lost faith and reverted to their past practices.
After witnessing all that God had recently done for them, they shouldn't have.
God nearly destroyed the whole lot of them, and likely would have, if it wasn't for Moses.
