Would there be any problems? You know, with other people? Cuz this black guy asked me out, and I do really like him, but I'm worried. Am I just being stupid?

Neither of my parents are racist. I have been raised to judge a person by their character not color. I am just not sure what some racist people around us would do.....

I am not racist. I just am wondering if its a good idea. My friends all think I should go for a white person instead. They are not really big on me dating him. I dunno why. So I wanted more peoples thoughts.

If you aren't racist and your parents don't mind that you do so then the choice is yours. As long as you are a good judge of character you shouldn't have any problems. However most of society will look down upon your relationship because even though we are all supposed to have equal treatment, it just really doesn't happen that way. So racist black people wont like that you are dating nor will racist whites. But if you don't care what other people think then go for it. Then again if you don't care.. why are you asking the question?

If you've never dated a black guy, then no you're not being stupid. It's actually a good question. You said that your parents are not racists, but have they actually been around any black people? I mean, actually interacted with them? If not, then you dating a black guy would probably be a big deal to them. Not only because he's black, but because they probably wouldn't know how to interact with him. Some blacks are uncomfortable around white people and vice versa. Despite what people said in here, all black guys are not the same. You have some that are two-timing dogs and some that are extremely nice. To say that black guys only want one thing from white girls is a stereotype. But in my opinion, I say go for it. If this guy is a nice guy, then by all means, who cares about the stares. This is 2006, interracial dating is in.

I am in an interracial relationship and it's great. We do get s*** from other people, both black and white, but I've learned to ignore it. I think people that give you s*** about it are just jealous that they aren't courageous enough to try something new. So yes, if he's a good guy, then go for it. Plus, all the adversity we have encountered has only made us stronger. Good luck!!

If you really like the guy, date him. Yes there will be problems with some people because there are a lot of ignorant people in the world but why worry about them. Just think about how you feel and how he feels. If he's willing to take a chance on you, you should take a chance on him.

I personally have no problem dating other races,, actually were all part of the human race.. If he shows you respect, and you like personality and you communicate well.. I don't think it matters if someone is polk a dot.. I don't think your being stupid, there are alot people that still have hang ups about dating outside their race, but as i said we all belong to the human race.. Live is short if you have a good thing going with this person trust your heart and his... good luck.

girl you do what makes you happy. why do you care what other people think. if you always worry about what others might say you will never be truly happy. I learned that lesson my self recently. you are the one who has to live with your decisions in life. you have to be the one who is comfortable with your mate. if you are not totally comfortable he will never feel completely accepted by you, then you won't work. your heart will guide you to do what is right or within your comfort level. you have to make you happy good luck, and by the way i'm a little byass (my fiance' is black)

It's not a good idea. Friends? Yes. Lovers? No. If you guys were to ever have kids, they will have problems identifying who they are and that's not good. It sets the child up to be mercilessly ridiculed and then...BAM!...you got another Columbine on your hands. And who wants that? Now, if your intent is to just get w/ him because of his large male genitalia, then, okay. But if you're looking to be all lovey-dovey...not a good idea.

Colour shouldn't come into it. It's a good idea for a girl to date a guy who's going to treat her nicely. End of story.
