Yes. None of the arguments for keeping it illegal are persuasive. However, it should be regulated like alcohol because driving or working while "high" is dangerous.
As for harder drugs, the government has a stronger interest to keep those illegal. But marijuana is pretty much harmless.

Sure, but they won't.
Why? Can't tax that which anyone can get. They have no control over the distribution or sale of the pot, so therefore, will not legalize it. They can control the distribution and sale of alcohol. Pot can be grown by anyone with the stuff to do it. You can get the stuff anywhere to grow it. The plants can be found in some parts of the country growing as "weeds" (sound familiar??). So the government can't tax that, so why make it legal. They can't make any money off it, and it won't lower my taxes.

Yes. Among other things, it would reduce the black market arm's trade industry, as well as our governments own exchanging of arm's to help support their select South American government's.
Our government has to much capitalistic profit (and control) to loose be legalizing it.

Pot should not be illegal. They ought to tax it and be done with it. It would certainly help clean up our legal system and our prisons if this were done.
