I'm in Kenai, Alaska and it is sunny and about 65F. It was sunny and 68F yesterday. A really nice change after the previous week which was around 55-60F and occasional rain. But so much nicer than what most of the country is putting up with.

We're just starting to get the cooler nights now, around 40F if it is clear and calm. By early September, I like the hiking best because the nights get below 32F which knocks down all the squitters and the days are in the 50s so you can hike hard without sweating.

Talked to someone in Alaska today and she told me the temp at the time was 70. That's so not fair compared to the 92+ we're experiencing in Houston. Actually, compared to other parts of the states, Houston is much cooler right bout now. Go figure.

It's cooler today (8/9) and in the low '60s...drizzing rain.
