I don't know of any Vietnamese operation in Cambodia in 1982. I do know that in 1978 the Vietnamese went into Cambodia to remove the Khmer Rouge from power.

I think you meant 1972, where Nixon approved covert operations for U.S. combat troops to cross into Cambodia and disrupt NVA and Viet Cong supply lines along the Ho Chi Minh Trail.
