i've been thinking about getting a kitten, however my cat is nearly 5 years old and she has never been around other cats. she is indoor only and has seen cats through the window. she lived with two dogs for 3 years and would attack them. i can't get a dog because my association will not allow it. she is very shy though around people. i'm not sure how she will react. do you think that this will go well if i introduce another cat? or should i not even bother?

It is much harder to introduce 2 adult cats into the same home than it is a new kitten into an adult cats home.

Recently one of my cats died out of the blue due to cancer. I ended up getting a kitten. At first my other cat wanted nothing to do with her. Would walk by and smack her, etc. But this was nothing more than what a child might do when a step parent comes into the house. They don't like change.

But after a few weeks they got along. Today they are best of buds, sleep together, play, eat, bath each other, etc.

The younger the better if adding a kitten. Watch over it closely at first to ensure the cat doesn't hurt it as it is a kitten. Even though kittens are lovable, etc, don't forget loving on your other cat as during this time they will feel like they are being replaced.

Having 2 cats is great. They keep each other company, gives them a playmate, keeps them in better health due to playing and not just sleeping all the time. Plus your cat won't demand as much of your time as they will have a fellow cat to deal with.

I say go for it, find a stray or save one from a shelter. There are 10's of thousands of cats put down every year from shelters. All mine are saved strays. They make the best pets as they appreciate the home you give them and they give back more love to say thank you.

Yes. I will be sure that all be good. The old cat, certainly, will show at the beginning nervousness and anxiety. But the tendency to dialogue ,to play (for example) will overpower. Further all depends on a number of the factors: age of the high cat, kittens before, presence in the house a dog (if the dog will lick small kitten, so the high cat can perceive it as not kitten but as something home thing, to what she for a long time has got used). But in any case high will reserve the right of High!. Also can sometimes slightly beat youngest (it certainly is not so hard). In half an hour they will play again. The cats forgets a main body of the information in about 20-30 minutes (in my humble opinion). I have 3 cats. High 16. Mid 8. Youngest 3.

Don't bother. It's dangerous for the kitten. If you really want a second cat, get one about the same age and size and just slightly more aggressive. Then prepare for catfights. The way to have cats like each other is to get littermates in the first place.

It sounds like your cat does not like to share you! It all depends on your cat's personality. If you do decide to try it out, go to your local animal shelter and pick up a kitten.

Try introducing her to another cat, maybe a friend's cat or something, but don't buy one yet. If she seems to get along with it, then you could go get another cat. But if she doesn't like it, don't force her to live with one, she might not like her territory being taken by another.

Yes you could. Cats do like the companionship. I would get a kitten not another adult. In my experience my female who was 3 and spayed adopted my little kitten, also female and acted like it was her baby. Male adult cats aren't as excepting as females.

Oooooohhhh i comprehend. You ask the question "How cat do cat you cat shop cat a cat loser cat busy cat for cat 10 cat seconds cat?" yet you do no longer tell them to ascertain it with out asserting the word "cat".
