Here's the situation. I had two co-workers having a conversation. One of them being Muslim, the other Christian. The conversation went into how good God was and how it was vital to pray to him. Both agreed with the other, but never acknowledged their god by name. The QUESTION IS: During this conversation who's god were they talking about and how do you know since neither one felt the importance of acknowledging they're god by a name?

Technically, Judiasm, Christianity, and Islam all agree that their god is the same god (well, sort of). They just have different prophets. So, the question is, whose prophets are actually representatives of god, and which ones are fake. Since god only communicates through prophets, the rules are different despite having the same god, because the communication is different. If people ignore the rules and the prophets, they can talk about god without coming into disagreements.

There is One True God. He is known throughout the world, and different religions by different names. Why does it matter by which name you call God? A rose by any other name would smell as sweet, right? Christians are told in the Bible that we are not allowed to know the true name of God, so we just have names by which we call him. He told Moses "I Am that I Am."

The first 5 books of the Bible are the same in the Koran. The origins of the two religions are the same. It is not until after that point that they branch off into different ideas...but the basics are the same.

There are many different paths to God. The important thing is to find one and walk it.

If the situation was as you described then the one claiming to be a Christian was not.... No one of the True Christian Faith would ever aggree with a muslim that they were both of the same God... islam is a man invented cult that is inspired by satan. it has absolutly nothing to do with the True God, the Creator of this universe.

Why don't you put this question to your co-workers? It could stimulate some really good conversation, which makes your workday a little more interesting.

Unless you play with explosives for a living. In that case, keep the confab confined to the breakroom.

It could be that they either believe that they worship the same god, or that they use the term, understanding that they both realize the difference in religion and the impossibility of truly understanding what god means.
