I have seen all the cables at places such as Farm N' Fleet, Menards, Home Deopt to buy and build your own invisble dog fence, but Do you just take a shovel and start digging or is thier a website somewhere to help you with this process? PLEASE HELP!

You could dig the trench by hand, with a trenching shovel.. or rent a power trencher from your local rental place and save a lot of back breaking labor.

Just make sure you call to have someone come out and mark where all the underground wires and gas lines and such are before you dig!!

You've thought this out clearly, and in great length...
Please read some of what I copied for you..
I would never use an invisible fence..never..
I am always out there with my dogs.. I just some of the neighbors were more attentive with theirs..

Below are some good points.. :

Most people who have an option don't like the invisible fencing, for several reasons:

1. A panicked dog might run through the barrier, then be hesitant about coming back when the adrenalin rush wears off.

2. The batteries in the collar can wear out without the owner's knowing it and the dog can get out without correction.

3. The BIGGIE: Unless you're going to put collars on every critter that exists in your neighborhood, the invisible fence does nothing about keeping *other dogs, coyotes, whatever* OUT of your yard. Strays and/or feral animals can come in and do whatever damage they wish to your dog and he is pretty much helpless to get away.

However, that said, many people have used these fences and were quite happy with them. Some communities won't allow above-ground fencing, so it may be the only alternative. But I would still suggest finding somewhere that allows a solid fence, so you have a truly secure area to leave the dog in unattended.

Tell this guy to install an electric fence wire inside his side of the fence, and put collarrs on his dogs. Otherwise, you'll sue him for the damage they are doing to your property. Get an estimate from a contractor for filling inholes, etc. - in real money terms, not just you and a shovel. You shouldn't have to be filling in the holes, or dropping in wire of rocks or anything. It's his problem. You can set up a trap if he refuses, and wait for his dogs to enter your yard. Dog in a box waiting for a taxi to the pound. THe local humane society may have a dog trap, or you can rig up a crate. You can also complain to the ACO and his boss, the police chief coincidentally, that he needs to get a trap and fix this. Not the answer that you can't catch 'em. they would if they really wanted to... But make THEM be accountable.

Rent a trencher. Or you can buy a trenching tool and do it by hand.

If you're installing a radio fence, the wire only has be be buried about an inch or so underground. You can probably just a manual trenching tool for that.

All I did was use my shovel to dig a chunk out of the ground a couple of inches deep and put the line down and then tamped the chunk back in place.

read the instructions. You could also rent a tool that actually digs a small "drain like" ditch. But the directions should be with the purchase.

Use a spade.. but FYI invisable fences are not safe! It doesn't keep other dogs out and when your dog dashes out (and he will) he will NOT come back in because he got zapped on the way out.. Put up a real fence

Its easy. You only have to be deep enough so you won't trip on it or catch it with the lawnmower like 1 inch deep. You can wait after a rain and cut a slit with stick.

with an invisible shovel HAHAHA

have you looked at the packaging the cables come in? perhaps instructions are located inside.

i don;t think they would assume that everyone would automatically know what to do..
