Its a gift from God. If beer didnt exist fat women would never get laid. Ugly chicks would stay as dry as the desert. Baseball would be boring and life as we know it would come to an end!

Beer is an acquired taste no different than coffee or wine. I didn't like coffee when I was little without a pound of sugar in it. Eventually I started to like it just plain. Now I prefer it super dark and strong. Same with beer, I only liked beer because it gave me a buzz when I was young. Now I actually like to drink it with a meal without any plans of getting drunk.

I think beer is disgusting too. I think it's the hops that they use that gives it that distinctive "beer" taste that I personally find nasty. I also don't like the carbonation-it bloats me up! I think people drink it because it's cheap. But, there's no rule that says you have to like it. I get along just fine with vodka and gin! More expensive but a little goes a long way! ;)

Eew, I hate beer. When you find out the answer, let me know. A drink that is similar to beer that I love though is alcoholic cider. There are two really good brands: Woodchuck, and Woodpecker. I think there's another British one but I can't remember the name. Try them and see if you like them! A lot of bars and grocery stores carry them so if you like it you can drink that when your friends drink beer. That's what I do!

It's an acquired taste. Like many drinks and food. If you eat it enough, you'll eventually like it. I didnt when I was younger but now a couple beers wont bother me.

The theory is that if you try something eight times (or is it eleven?) you will learn to like it.

Also, most people don't start out drinking it for the taste, but the way it makes you feel funny when you get a buzz. Then you get used to it and start to crave it sometimes, or you psychologically associate it with having fun.

yes...it is an acquired taste. Start with Sierra Nevada Pale ale....or other micro brews...not the mass produced stuff like Bud or Coors !

there was time that i didn't like it either, but now i do - it just grows on you. try some microbrews instead of the usual bud or lite - lots of different tastes out there. you might find something you like.
