No. God and the devil are not at war for our soul. For Jesus has won the war eternally. Even though the devil attempts in every way to get us to do wrong, and to put doubt and fear into our mind, we must trust Jesus continually. He did not say that we would not have to suffer persecution while we live upon this earth; but He assured us that we would face persection. But He also gave us power and authority over Satan and over all of his demonic forces. (Luke 10:18-19) We must realize that we must stand against the devil through Jesus' name. We do not have to fight the devil, but just remind him of what God's Word says. For as we are told in Eph. 6:17, the Word of God is our weapon against Satan. And it will work every time. It does not mean that Satan will give up and completely stop attempting to overcome us, but he will never be able to do so, if we just put our faith in Jesus Christ. Jesus will take care of Satan when he tries to get us broken down. Leave the fighting up to Jesus. He will never lose. He will always make a way for us to escape Satan's traps. (1 Cor. 10:13) And as far as one other person mentioned, we do not have to do anything on this earth in order to make certain that we go to Heaven, except trust in Jesus and accept Him as our personal Savior. Our sins will all be forgiven; past, present, and future. And once we are saved, we are saved forever. God knows that we will not live a perfect life. He just expects us to do our best. If you have not already asked Jesus to forgive you for your sins, I encourage you to do so today. All you have to do is ask Him. It's that simple. He will do the rest.

"the devil and God are at war with each other for our souls, right?" - No, more like a bar bet.
"Why is it that we are pawns in this war for?" - same reason humans bet which fly will land on a spot on the bar. (God rigged this bet - we have free will, so the devil always looses.)
"It says that God is all powerful and all so why are we the chess pieces?" - We are his best work, the most gifted of HIS creations. God knows his creations.
"If we are Gods sons and daughters and Christ our savior then why do we have to be part of this game?" - GOD put his best players in the "game" as you call it. Try and keep your children from helping you, we want to be involved with God.
"If we are forgiven then why are we still having to put up with something that we have been forgiven for?" -- We all have daily tests - helping others pass theirs, insuring ours holds, we should be humble - not proud, so we are an example to others.
"Im lost ,please someone out there find me" -- You are not lost - you have a very good understanding what is going on. Keep involved, and asking questions. The more your involved in your community - the stonger you will be. Also keep your leaders on their toes, too. You also sound like you have an opened mind, and are serious about learning, not forcing people to think like you.
People have free will, keep respecting that.
Again - you are doing wonderfully, you are not lost.

I can't quite understand why someone who thinks they are "forgiven" is asking this question. Why do you think you are forgiven? Do you understand what that means? Do you know who Jesus is or why He came?

God is NOT at war with the devil! Let me repeat that, "God is NOT at war with the devil". Satan rebelled and God kicked him out of heaven. There is not any war. God is God. Satan is a created being and has NO power over God.

Satan is at war with MAN! His goal is to continue to separate lost man from God and to enhance saved man's ineffectiveness for God.

One question you forgot to ask: Why did God create Satan?

Personally I don't believe in the Devil. There's enough evil in the world without having to make up a supernatural bogeyman.
Satan is mentioned in the Bible, but not as we know him today.
He was essentially re-invented by the Church centuries after
Christ's death as nothing more than a reason to gain more converts out of fear-for the "greater good",of course.

It is not so much a war for our souls as it is alleged to be a war fo power as in god has it satan wants it and as a way to prove that good wins over evil god as allowed the devil to tempt us . Satan turned from god . God didn't make him turn.

it means we are to work for him. what do mean put up with something youve been forgiven for, if you have truly been forgiven then god forgot about it and so should you. dwelling on past sins has actually led a few people i know to suicide, it is a tool the devil uses to draw you away from god.

the gates of heaven were closed until the death of Jesus. After his resurrection they were opened and we all have the opportunity to get to heaven. So, he's saved us, but that doesn't mean we're guaranteed to enter. this whole life is a test. We have to prove ourselves worthy of this opportunity, and what the devil would like most is to lead us from that path. So the devil tries to tempt us, and God gives us the free will to follow him is we choose. We must stay on the "straight and narrow" to prove we are worthy of heaven.

God and the devil are not at war Biblically. Satan is the adversary of man, not of god. Go read Job if you don't believe me. Satan still gets invites to angel meetings.

I kind of think that ultimately, God wants to prove us worthy of His eternal, glorious kingdom. To do so, He subjects us to many trials, and tribulations while we are here on earth. Once we are with Him in glory, and look back, this will all seem so trivial, I'm sure.
