Well...
All you have to do it unscrew the knob where the barrell and pump meet. The plug and spring are inside there. Once you have it open, just pull it out and you have removed the plug. Put the top back on and you are in there. Don't lose it though you may want to put it back in sometime. In some states it is required for you to have them in while you hunt. Good luck!

if you haven't already tried to remove the plug. The magazine tube on the new remingtons have a plug in the end of the tube. it is a metal cap with a slit in it so you can use a screwdriver and place it in the hole and cam it up a little at a time on different sides till it comes out. The spring will launch. after you remove the plug you can put the cap back in to make it a captive spring again or you can install the barrel and then put the spring in and retain it with the magazine cap when you lock the barrel back on.

under the cap there is a thin metal cup it has slots in it . and a hole in the middle this holds the spring and plunger down.you can use a screw driver in the slots to work it out of the mag.be careful not to use to much pressure it will bend. and the glasses are a good idea. the spring dose jump out
