Absolutely, most wars are as a result of disagreements over religious beliefs.

No
I don't think that any wars are really caused by religion, it is more that religion a field in which the wars are justified. Look at the 30 year war, on the surface you have Catholics versus Protestants, but underneath that you really have the Habsburg dynasty fighting the other powers for power and control.
So if man wasn't using religion to kill each other over then he would just find something else

No their wouldn't be less wars.
Your assertion that religion is historically involved in more wars is accurate only because up until the modern era almost all states, city states, and tribes were bound in a theocracy or sorts. Religion was often the justification for the state or its binding principle.
If your could magically subtract religion from history. Tribes would still war tribes forming city states. City states would still war city states to form states. They would war for the same reasons all wars are fought, land, resources, and power, just under different justification. Most likely ideals and patriotism.

Not necessarily, it depends on your starting assumptions. If you assume the present state and taking the entire population of wars ever fought and documented, and then simply minus those that are religiously motivated, then of course you can see the evidential support for "less wars". But I don't think this is a fair conclusion. On the other hand, if you assume there was no religion to start with, the total number of wars could be more or less, either way we can't tell.

Not necessarily. Wars are about land rights: who owns what piece of property, and who has absolute authority over the people that live on that property.
Religion, while often shouted by people on both sides of any war, is usually just an excuse or placebo to make the soldiers "feel" that what they are doing is right. Politics as usual.
The ultimate question in any war is: who will rule this piece of dirt? Eliminating religions would not lessen war. It would just remove one more excuse, one more speech, one more emotional manipulation.

Religion divides man and causes tension. It has been the major cause of conflict, torture, and atrocities in history. If religion had not been around, man would not have been divided, and could work together. So religion indirectly caused war by splitting cultures. It is like a throwing a stick of dynamite into a fire. The tension between culture is bad, but with something as volatile as religion, it explodes. With no religion, we would not fight about superstition, but resources. Yet with no religion to divide us we could work together to share, and peacefully resolve conflict. We would still have war, just less.

Not unless the loss of religion was accompanied by a general disdain for authority. Patriotism is every bit as dangerous as religious faith.

Ehh, maybe. Most current wars are caused by theists, but I do think that we would find another reason to kill each other if religion were to be disproved.

there will always be wars, mostly about power and money. religion is just a belief system. even various branches of politics are belief systems. like it or not we are all ruled by ideas.
