John 3:16 God so loved the world that He gave His only Son so that whoever believed in him may not be lost, but have eternal life. God also sent Jesus as a teacher. He taught his followers so they may teach and spread the Word of the Lord to others.
Now I have a question for you - you're Jewish and you believe in Jesus? I may be misinformed, but I thought the Jews were still awaiting the coming of the Messiah.

As a Jewish person you should understand this very clearly, but I will try to answer your question.
God's law was broken when Adam and Eve ate the fruit against God's express command to not eat from a particular tree. God had also informed them that when they ate from that tree, they would die. So, God had two options of how to handle the situation; 1) he could kill them as he had said, or 2) he would have to provide a perfect sacrifice or substitute.
If God's law was changeable, then He would not be God; the law represents the character of God. God never changes who he is, so his law can not change either.
All parts of the ceremonial and sacrificial services of the Jewish tabernacle represented and pointed to Jesus. The lambs, rams and bullocks had to be perfect inside and out before they could be accepted as a sin offering, and in the same way, Jesus had to be perfect, without spot or blemish, so that his blood could cleanse us from our sins. As God, he was equal with the law that was broken. As man, he could be our substitute. Jesus fulfilled (obeyed) the law perfectly so that we could have an unblemished sacrifice.

David
It started in the garden of Eden when God killed an innocent 'lamb' and shed its blood in place of the guilty ones like you and I. The example was followed thru the Old Testament at the alter of sacrifice and finally ended with the promised Messiah on the cross, and He resurrected on the 3rd day. Don't pay any attention tto the naysayers here, but keep your eyes mind and heart looking onto http://www.carm.org/doctrine/100truths.htm

The best way to look at it is that he redeemed us.
We are the children of God, made by the Creator, for the glory of Him. We rejected him and continue to do so, it is in our nature to express true free will rejecting the servitude to God and being our own lord, therefore making ourselves our god.
God lost us, and so rather than simply take us back through force, he humbled himself to our ways and died that we may live. For we were slaves to more than the world and the demons and other people but to sin, and Jesus allowed that sin to be cast upon us, that we may be washed clean, absolved from sin, and redeemed.
We were his and he lost us and he bought us back with a price. Now we are twice belonging to Him.

I think it was because there was no other way for our sins to be cleansed from us. The animal sacrifices were not working in turning people away from sin and with Jesus dying on the cross gave us a way to really look at ourselves and our sins and remember that a man died for us so we could have eternal life with Him.

He said I love you this much and He spread His arms wide and let us crucify Him on a tree. Because the price for our sins had to be paid either by us or by the Perfect Lamb of God. Have you seen The Passion of the Christ? I cried for days and days at the thought that my sins did that to Him. (not antisemitist) Jesus died for all, even those who physically crucified Him.

Jesus needed to die to pay the rate sins. He was once the spotless lamb who knew no sin, He took the punshment that are meant to had been ours. It is going the entire as far back as Genesis whilst Adam and Eve ate of the forbidden fruit. In Genesis bankruptcy three it says "And I will placed enmity among you and the girl, and among your seed and her seed; He shall bruise you at the head and you are going to bruise Him at the heel." Jesus got here to satisfy all that was once prophesied approximately Him. He fulfilled Psalm 22, Isaiah fifty three, Micah five:two-15, Zechariah nine:nine, Isaiah sixty one Yes, Jesus got here that we have got forgiveness and find out how to existence permanent. We simply ought to receive what He did at the go for us. He is not lifeless, AMEN, he rose once more and lives ceaselessly in heaven.

Because there was just no other way. And He loved us enough to send His son AND a part of Himself to suffer such a horrible death for US, lowly people who sometimes don't even care what He did!! And He knew that many of us wouldn't care. Isn't that sad? Praise God for the ones who do believe!
