Depends on what you think is oppression...or you think Western women are only defined by "Playboy" and Hugh Hefner???
Anyways the real majority of western women are more educated, respected and catered to than in any other time or place in history.
If you are looking for true oppression of women...go to fracking Saudi Arabia and in the nomadic areas of Afghanistan and Pakistan...what the Wahabbis do there is real oppression (and it aint just women suffering there boy)

I think any person can be oppressed if that is what they choose to want to be. I actually feel western women probably face the least oppression of any women around the globe.

Western women have more choices than women at any point in written history.
They can choose to marry or not marry.
They can choose to bear children or not bear children.
They can choose to work in a professional career, and in many cases (increasing I hope) earn as much as their male coutner parts.
They can own property independent of any male relative or cosigner.
Western women still have a long way to go, but their ability to make choices independent of those imposed by others has never been more advanced.

Self-oppressed for sure. They victimize themselves pretty well by fawning all over pop culture ideals instead of developing their identity and values. It doesn't help that disrespectful men like that Girls Gone Wild guy take advantage of the situation. But for both, stupid is as stupid does.

I think Westerners are oppressed in general. We are so prudish about sex where as other countries are very open and it's a natural thing. We know how to make it dirty and nasty, which isn't a good thing.

Lets see, I can work if i want too, I can vote, i can walk around without covering my face( because men can't control themselves) I can buy a house, car without my husbands permission, I can travel without a man or his permission, yea, I'm so oppressed. Get a life, or rather give your women a real life.

Very much so, especially when it comes to the financial aspect. I mean look at the fortune 500 companies....how many are headed by women?

You need some global perspective. Check out the women in saudi arabia or some of the other muslim countries.
