The reason the Civil war was civil is because it was fought in the United States. That was between the north and the south. It was not just between them but about nine of the southern states know as the confederate army didn't agreed with the President Lincoln ruling to abolished slavery. So they decided to separate them self that is how they were called the confederate army. More the Union army represented Pres. Lincoln. Moreover on January 1 1862 he signed the Emancipation Proclamation that abolished slavery in the entire country. So I know my history, those were the reason why it was called the Civil War. Remember in the Court system we have two type of courts the criminal court and the civil court- this court deals with misunderstanding two person.

There was "nothing" civil about it.
It still holds the record for more lives lost than any other war.
In fact the lives lost were greater than the two World Wars,Korea, &
Vietnam combined.
Imagine looking in "every" direction, and for as far as the eye can
see,....and the dead are stacked three deep.More than one
battlefield fit this description.
Today's history books try to explain that this war was "all" about
slavery. This is in hopes that all that read it will say "oh,well that
was a just cause". Little of this war was about slavery,it was
about a way of life.
This war is reffered to by Southerners as "The War Of Northern Aggression" It pitted brother against brother, and Father
against Son.
In the United States 49 states have Romal Civil law.One has
French Continnetinal Law,that state is Louisianna.
The fact that a small Southern section went toe to toe with
the rest of the nation and nearly won is a tesament to the die
hard will of The Southern people,of which I am one.

Well, "civil" means that it was a civilian war within the same government. Not that it was polite or cultured.
