Just like its not healthy for a human to hold it, it isn't for a dog or any other animal either. Thats common sense. It can make them sick just like in humans. You shouldn't even have the dogs if you can't take responsiblilty for it and take care of it. Take him out right before you go to bed. That might help him sleep in a little later.

NO, it's not healthy to make your dog wait 12 hours to go to the bathroom! Especially since you just want to sleep in, that is horrible of you! Your suppose to love your pets. Can you go 12 hours without going pee?
I've been a vet tech for six years and making your dog hold it will eventually make him sick! The most minor thing that will happen is a urinary tract infection, most serious would be kidney failure.

YOU SHOULD NOT OWN A DOG!

Dogs can hold their bladder for a while, but shouldn't be forced to. Usually dogs should be let out to relieve themselves every three hours accept at bedtime. To let a dog go for twelve hours or longer, is not healthy and can cause bladder infections and possibly kidney failure later in life.

If you force a dog to "hold it", they can end up with a urinary infection. Don't force your dog to go 12 hours unless it is during the night. You can buy a citronella collar which sprays citronella every time the dog barks. Doesn't hurt them at all, they just don't like the taste of it.

Just put him out for 10-15 minutes before you go to bed & back outside the second you wake up.

12 hours is WAY TOO LONG! Not only because he has to hold it that long, but more importantly he is probably lonely and stressed.

Why did you get a dog if you are not willing to be responsible and take care of him?

He has to go. It is not right to make him wait if he needs to go. He will pee on the floor.
