You say might as well believe because you don't lose anything. That is not a great arguemnet. Picking any one religion is just as dangerous under the same logic. If I pick Christianity in fact wouldn't this piss off Allah even more than if I had no religion at all and remained a good person? Then I'm worshipping a false profit or something and I'm really gonna burn. But anyways as an atheist your arguement sounds no better than any other religion because I don't believe in religion or what it stands for. But back to the point picking anything over anything is dangerous under logic, just because you think yours is the one true religion doesn't mean anyone else does.

I'm not gonna pick a God out of fear. That is why religion is no good in my opinion, it all is a man made thing to get us to follow some one or thing. I don't and won't ever (EVER) believe in anything that can't be proven just to make me feel better or relieve myself of fear, sounds cowardly.

That certainly makes sense to me. Lots of people get so deep in the Christian v. Atheist debate, they forget all the other possibilities, though it seems that if you have some religion, you're considered okay. The idea most people try to get across with Pascal's Wager (if that's what you're talking about) is that since we don't know, better to pick the path that doesn't have the option of ending in hell. The general counter argument to that is that by spending your life worshipping a God that doesn't come through, you've wasted all that life you could have spent experiencing the here and now, rather than banking on a magical future. It is a choice between God or no God, but it becomes completely impossible to logically make the "right" choice when you throw in all other religions.

The real take home message: "Just because you think yours is the one true religion doesn't mean anyone else does." Best to do your best until the day you find out for sure.

When one condemns another religion, to many theologians, it shows that they do not understand God. For instance many Muslims, Jews, and Christians argue about which way will save them. And condemn the rest. This is a foolish argument. While I think Christianity is the most clear representation of God, I don't think that "traditional" Islam or Judaisms condemn others.

All these religions come from the same root -Abraham. Most other religions come from the heart of man or are inspired.

Anyway, to understand that Abraham knew little, yet could still be saved, because he was loyal and cared about pleasing God.

An understanding of God, is that the Law is made for man. It helps men live together and have full lives.

There are hard questions, but only one God. No tradition has a monopoly on the Truth.

So, Atheism is a fools bet, not to mention difficult to defend.

It is better at any rate to just admit your hopeless position and become agnostic. Hoping that if God indeed does exist he'll let you choose at the last moment. Not that I recommend this, but you wouldn't be alone. Atheism is a lonely religion (~2.36% worldwide (CIA Fact book)).

More to the point, just because you think yours is the one true religion doesn't mean you're right because other religions think you're wrong! Religion is basically a personal experience. A person who has everything in life will feel "blessed" and will thank GOD or ALLAH for being kind to him, or a man who won a lottery jackpot will feel the same.Men create and molds the Image of GOD,according to their own beliefs, not the other way around! That is why it's much better not to believed in any religions. Believing in a GOD is another matter.

logic ! just think about your situation. can it end up really bad or really good ? Is anyone going to get hurt from it ? what would be the best thing to do? would I want some one to do it to me ? What do you have to lose? As far as your argument goes.....what would it hurt just to do good to all people? YES, you would be a good person BUT... you need to really pray to GOD and to your god and set a fleece then see which one answers you. Maybe you'll find the ONE, TRUE GOD then.

My faith and trust in God is far greater than any religion on Earth.
The soul does exist in you, but, God gave us the choice to believe or not.

Actually, Muslims tend to respect Christians more than non-believers or Jews....they still look down on them, but as they are people of faith (that are not Jewish), they would sooner talk to a professed Christian than to a non-believer. Non-believers are heathens, the TRUE infidels...and almost as bad as Jews. (to the Muslims).

But I agree, getting on the bandwagon because of the "ya got somethin better?" argument was never my thing.

Logic does not dictate eternal fence sitting. Prudence dictates you pick the most reasonable position with the evidence you have, and hold it contingently rather than dogmatically.

It's basically a pathetic argument, and whoever uses it is one of those brainwashed puppets who can't think for themselves and deserve to die--Christian or not.
