Special allowances are made for immigrants....like for instance, they dont pay taxes. That time of year we all dread means nothing to them. I don't agree with all of the special treatment different groups recieve. I have been at points in my life that I could barely pay my bills, yet I stood behind immigrants in the grocery store buying two and three buggies worth of food and still sending more money to their families in Mexico. I understand coming here for a better life, but they often have better lives here than many Americans born here. I understand though, a friend of mine was turned down for help she desperately needed because there wasn't enough and she was white.

I'm confused. Did your worker actually tell you she was illegal or just that she came here from mexico? She may have just got here through immigration meaning she probably really didn't have anything. Quit making assumptions about people unless you know all the facts.

welcome to the beauracracy.. stupid, isn't it? I once worked for the Dept. of Social Services in California.. and I was REQUIRED to give illegals the public assistance they qualified for.. and I was FORBIDDEN to even say the words 'green card' to them.. why?? it might OFFEND them.. can you imagine the long list of cuss words that went through my mind every single time one of the illegals walked into my office??? I had a case load of about 350 at any given time.. 90% of them were Hispanic and 90% or THOSE were illegal.. and there wasn't a blasted thing I could do about it.. so I quit that danged job.. I would not be a part of such garbage.

We are trained to believe this from the media, but the real question is what kind of government forces its citizens to have to pay for healthcare? What happened to the idea of free healthcare for all? A universal healthplan would solve this by allowing for people to receive the aid when they need it, not when they have the money. Blame the government, not the people.

Well god bless your state for allowing an illegal citizen to receive benefits. You seem to be a very understanding and hard working person. i hope you find that job you long for.so you can keep paying those taxes. i,m sure that family has more than taken advantage of those benefits by now god knows they probably needed them more than you.

I had the same issue when I was 18 years old and had a trip to the ER. It baffles me that this country does not take care of its citizens while it will care for everyone else.

from my understanding no one can be denied in an emergency room...and I think you may not know the whole situation on that lady because my mother in law has been here for 25 years "Legally" and still can't receive SSI and has paid taxes for over 25 years.

the same reason that for welfare you have to provide a SS#, but if you are illegal you dont.
If you go to the hospital they want to know how you are going to pay before they treat you, but if you are illegal, they dont.
Sucks, thank God i have never had to ask for help, i probably wouldnt get it anyway.
