My Four and Two year old both watch Tom and Jerry (I like the classical music it usually has as background music) and I've never seen them try to act out the violence. They've chased each other around, but never hit each other in the face or dropped and anvil on any heads. If you've brought your son up not to hit, he won't hit, even if he sees it on Tom and Jerry. Because he knows that even if he saw it on TV, he'd still gete in trouble if he tried it. The fact that you're this concerned makes me believe that you've raised your children to respect others and not to resort to violence, so I think it's fine that he finds Tom and Jerry hilarious.

Think about it.. its a cat and a mouse.. when have you ever seen a cat throw something at a mouse? Cartoon violence is only a danger when it is something that can be realistic.. like a person hitting another person in the face with an iron. But if you are concerned.. sit down with your child and explain that this is make believe and that cats and mice can't do that kind of thing in real life...
But seriously.. Tom and Jerry have been around forever.. and when have you ever seen someone hit someone else in the face with an iron to copy Tom and Jerry.

Hi, no I wouldn't be concerned my 3 year old daughter does the same thing. If you think it about these are the same cartoons that we grew up on. There is nothing wrong with me and I am sure that there is nothing wrong with you. Watching tom and jerry is better than watching some of the other cartoons out there. I hope that this has helped.

How many of us grew up watching and laughing at Tom and Jerry, the Roadrunner and Wile E. Coyote and Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd? I'd say the majority of us turned out okay. I think it takes more than cartoons in a childs life to turn them into wife beaters and criminals.

I used to watch Tom and Jerry and I never killed or maimed anyone. Your son is 4, now if he were 12 and laughing hysterically at a brutal murder in a movie, I would then express concern.

Well. MOM..if your son is watching violent cartoons and displaying the behavior..Perhaps you need to not allow him to watch those types of cartoons..
Although, I did grow up on Tom and Jerry myself.. Unfortunately, there's so much going on and so much as changed..To be fair..Tom and Jerry isn't the worst cartoon on today..Just re-enforce discipline when he does those things..
To ask your question..I wouldn't be worried.

I think it's fine. If he starts acting with bad behavior then I would cut Tom & Jerry out. I remember laughing at Tom and Jerry, and the Coyote and Road runner, and laughing everytime the coyote blew up with dynamite, but I never once thought about it being real. Those thoughts never even occured to me....

He's fine. It's funny. It's not like he's watching South Park or something. My son loves Tom & Jerry and he's 4 also. He hasn't grabbed any frying pans and smacked anyone up side the head.

Like you...I grew up with Tom and Jerry, and I never felt the need to hit anyone with an iron. Maybe you are just overthinking this. Then again, the media probably got you all scared with their blaming of kids violence on T.V., and video games. All three of my kids love to play video games, and I haven't heard of any of them going out and stealing a car, or killing anybody.
Is really up to you, maybe just keep an eye out on him, but unless something happen, I don't see what difference it makes.
