Who is a better American. A law obeying, home owning, tax paying person who does not love the USA, or a flag waving, George Bush loving, gotta watch Nascar on Sundays, lives in mobile home, gun owning, and has "God Bless The USA" bumper sticker on their truck, but who has been in trouble with the law?

Isn't one of the great things about America that Americans come in all different styles? I know, I know. . . that's cheesy. It's true, though. You don't have to love America to be a good American, and you don't have to have a completely clean criminal record. You can feel however you want to about God, the president, the second amendment, and even NASCAR.
You should probably pay your taxes, though. :-)

Great choices, Marc.. how about a hard working, law abiding, tax paying citizen who loves the country that gives him or her the freedom to watch Nascar on Sunday.. live in his or her own mobile home AND gives him or her the right to own that gun...instead of living in a place where you never want to sleep because you are afraid that the powers that be will burst into your home in the middle of the night and shoot you and your family...

The USA is a nation founded and continued on the basis of law. Agreed, at times it may not seem so, but the predicate is there none the less. The alternative is anarchy. So I must choose the law abiding person.

What? Who is more patriotic? The guy who loves the USA. As far as the "better American" part they are both Americans which mean one is not better than the other.

You know that first person you described, the law abiding Bush hater who says "to hell with America", that sounds like your typical American liberal. We call them Democrats here.
The other fellow sounds like a red-neck American, conservative, the backbone of the Republican party.
Them's all great Americans, stinking liberals and gun toting conservatives. Ain't America great, or what?

Well, if they are both legal citizens, then they are on equal footing as being an American goes.
The question should be: who is the better person or who is the better citizen?

The first one by far, if there were more people like that in the U.S., and less people who were like the second example that you've given, then The U.S. would have a far better reputation, and be a much better place.
