Does everyone these days have to get their wisdom tooth taken out? my cousins got them taken out, and they said it was painful. Are there certain symptoms that require the removal of the wisdom tooth? And is it painful?

Yes, it is painful. Not during the process of course because the dentist will completely numb you - however, after you'll probably have swollen cheeks and it'll hurt to smile and any pressure around the mouth.

Usually, you'll find that (if you get all 4 wisdom teeth pulled out) that the top 2 almost don't hurt at all, while the bottom 2 are usually the ones that you'll be suffering from

Dentists usually request patients to have their wisdom teeth removed if they feel that 1) the wisdom teeth are going to continue to grow and come out from under the gum and 2) which will cause the rest of your teeth to move out of alignment

In terms of how long it'll hurt after once removed, it varies for everyone from several days to a week and a half. Pain killers are your best friend :D hahaha

I hope this helps :D

Not everyone, depends on the individual. Unfortunately it runs in my family. I had mine out at 17 as they said they would cause me trouble. When I had mine out my jaws ached a lot, but I didn't really get pain where the teeth were. Codis really helped with the pain. Not being able to open your mouth very far is a real nuisance, I ate lots of fish in sauce. You have to have them removed if they come through at a funny angle, or if there's not enough room for them with your other teeth, these cause a lot of pain.Or like in my case if they can see on the x-ray that they are going to cause problems before they come through. It doesn't happen to everyone, you might be okay. If you do have them out, you have to stay indoors for a week due to risk of infection, your face swells up anyway, so you might want to stay in.

Your dentist would be the best person to tell you if you need them removed. All four of mine came in with no problem. But, my dentist said that my teeth were starting to over crowd in my mouth and recammended I have them removed so I don't end up with crooked teeth or problems later on. I had them removed and it wasn't painful. An oral surgeon put me in a twilight type sleep(Idon't remember a thing) and removed them. I didn't use but 2 of my pain meds. And I'm a woos when it comes to pain. It wasn't bad really.

Mine have grown in, and I dont think they need to be taken out. They only take out your wisdom teeth if it is interfereing with the growth of the rest of your teeth, or if it is pushing the rest of your teeth out of place. Wisdom teeth hurt when they are growing in, but it stops hurting after that. If it still hurts in or around that area, see your dentist. Otherwise, ther should be a problem. They only need to pull them out if its a problem, and yes, it hurts like a mother.
If it aint broke dont fix it!

Not everyone has to have their wisdom teeth taken out. Reasons to remove them include crowding, where they come in and wedge against other teeth, and can mess your teeth up, teeth that don't come in completely, raising the risk of teeth and gum diseases (because they are impossible to clean), or teeth that come in at odd angles (two of mine came in flipped 90 degrees). Ask your dentist, he can take x-rays and tell you for sure.

You get your wisdom teeth removed when they're impacted and they won't grow in properly. Sometimes you can let it go if it doesn't threaten to screw up your teeth but impacted wisdom teeth can actually cause strep throat, believe it or not. The dentist will let you know if you need to have them removed, it's rare for all four to have to be removed. Usually its just one or two.

your dentist can tell if you will have room in your mouth or not for them. If not then yes, they will have to come out. It doesn't hurt until afterwards but only about 2 days, in which you will eat mushy things (food of course) heh heh and will be on pain killers. You will be just fine
