Please could I have recipes for some dressings too, eg. french dressing? I don't like the ready made bottled dressings available at the supermarket. Thanks.

1st: A House salad is usually the salad that is made by the restauurant thier way, it's basic like a tossed salad. 2nd: A garden salad is all the basics of a regular salad like lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, onions etc. and the Cesar is romaine lettuce , like the Italians like to use, also has a cream garlic sauce that the resturant usually will prepare right at your table when you order. Thats the best way or make it yourself. It also has oil and raw egg as well. Thats my favourite salad.

French Dressing:1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon paprika
1/8 teaspoon dry mustard
1 teaspoon fruit sugar ( buy this at bulk store)
3 tablespoons of lemon juice
6 tablespoons of white vinegar
1 cup salad oil
combine all ingredients in a glass container(jar) cover and shake thoroughly. Store in frig, shake well before serving.

Variations: Italian= Make French dressing omitting paprika, sugar, and lemon juice.Add 1 clove garlic, minced, 1/4 teaspoon cayenne and a dash of Tabasco sauce. Increase mustard to 1/4 teaspoon.

Good Luck, Hope this was helpful. Mich

I'm not sure about recipes but a garden salad is just a regular salad with any kind of dressing...a caesar salad has romaine lettuce, croutons, caesar dressing and fresh grated parmesan cheese.

Garden and house salads are generally simple salads with Iceberg lettuce, tomato and cucumber. Ceasar salad is made with Romaine lettuce and has a creamy garlic dressing, parmesan cheese, croutons, and sometimes anchovies.
I suggest you experiment with dressings at home. For Vinaigrette dressing use the best olive oil you can get (Extra virgin, cold pressed). Add an acid (vinegar, or lemon juice) , sea salt, freshly ground pepper, minced garlic, Italian spices, etc.
I'm sure that with experimentation with different ingredients you will end up finding a dressing that you really like.

House salad is what ever the house wants it to be; usually mixed greens, one cherry tomato, and a single slice of cucumber, maybe three croutons.
Caesar salad was invented in Mexico in the 30's or 40's. It is romaine lettuce, garlic croutons, a dressing made table-side with raw eggs, olive oil, parmesan cheese, and Worcestershire sauce.

A Caesar salad is made from romaine lettuce traditionally with crumbled hard boiled egg, croutons, shaved cheese (like romano), and dressing. Garden is mixed greens or predominantly iceberg, tomato, carrot shavings, cucumbers, etc.

CAESAR = romaine lettuce, croutons, caesar dressing

GARDEN = any and all type of lettuce, though usually iceberg, usually a slice or two of cuke, tomato, maybe some carrot shreds, but that may vary depending upon the restaurant naming it.

HOUSE = whatever salad the restaurant owner decides to offer as his "specialty." Often they are very good. Sometimes they are not much, and can be the same as a garden salad. If you ever have the choice of a House Dressing, try it. I've only been disappointed once, and pleasantly surprised countless times!
