I was absolutely petrified for the longest time. I think only within the last couple of years i got to the point where you could even say "dentist" around me without me coming close to passing out. A few things helped. One: I finally got the nerve to get the teeth capped that I busted when I was a kid (broke 'em when I passed out in a dentist office, how ironic). Two:I finally found a good dentist, and Three: Nitrous Oxide!!! (Aka: Goofy Gas).

I still don't like going. Like having my teef though. However, if a genie only gave me one wish, I think it would be "Make my teeth impervious to decay and anything else that can go wrong so I never have to set foot in a dentist office again...I'm sure somebody else will wish for world peace."

I never was until today. I've been to the dentist a hundred times without pain or problems but today a brand-new dentist (she looked to be about 14 years old) joined the practice. She started "measuring my pockets" (whatever the hell that is) and spent 20 minutes jamming a small plastic spear-like thing between my teeth and gums. My eyeballs nearly popped out...she must have done this something like 50 times. Holy cow...I'm gonna get dentures.

Yes I am very afraid of what the dentists do to me. Firstly they want to fill my mouth full of mercury if not mercury they want to fill it with amalgam which is another highly toxic substance. Then the dentist, after haveing my teeth cleaned, shoved a mouth guard in my mouth full of a foamy substance, which I spat out immediately, and inquired as to what it was, I was told it was fluoride, that stuff belongs in the toxic waste, not in my mouth. By the way the fluoride the dentist use is NOT calcium fluoride, it is a by-product from the aluminium factories. Its used as a bleaching agent. So my answer is an infalliable YES, BE AFRAID, BE VERY AFRAID.

My mom said that she isn't scared to go to the dentist, she just made a self enflicted decsion that she would rather let her teeth rot out of her head then to let a dentist drill in her face, but i personally love the dentists!

I used to be due to a dentist who froze the tooth to be pulled and then ended up pulling the tooth on the other side that had nothing wrong with it and wasn't frozen...and yes it hurt a great deal! He was a real idiot.

I finally found a great dentist who knows his stuff and his number one priority is that his patients are comfortable at all times and always know and understand what he will be doing and how.

Now, I enjoy going to the dentist and so does the rest of my family :)

I am afraid of the dentist because
when I was a small child my dentist was evil to children and enjoyed it
if I squirmed or moved he yelled and then used the slow drill as punishment
when I had to have a tooth pulled .. he yelled at me and called me a baby because I was crying ( I was 7?)
parents had to take us kids to that sadomasochist dentist because he was the closest dentist that accepted Dads insurance
