I girl I lived with in college was bulimic. She would steal other people's food and binge on it rather than eating her own food because that would lead to "clues"of her condition. This eventually led to stealing (or "borrowing without asking" other non-food items, as well.) She threw up in a basement bathroom so no one would know, but that bathroom always smelled funny to us. One day someone followed her downstairs and caught her in the act. We suggested she get counseling and even offered to go with her. In the end, though, she didn't really want to stop the behavior, so she moved out. Sorry, that's the only experience I have with it.

The signs are
forcing yourself to vomit after eating
excessive use of laxatives to eliminate food
an obsession with weight loss
eating enormous amounts of food without weight gain

The laxatives can lead to colon failure among other illnesses including mental illness.

If you ask her directly she'll probably deny it, look out for the signs and if you are sure she has it. Talk to her about it and make sure your tone does not sound accusatory or harsh.
