Everyone is a sinner anyway, and why would gay marriage be a worse sin than other sins. Doesn't the first and most essential commandment say not to worship other gods, so does that mean it should be illegal to have other religions besides the judeo-christian ones? That's why your job is to save souls, not to get involved in politics and control what the entire secular world does. Your religious beliefs, whether or not they're right, is not a valid reason for creating laws in this country, which is something many people don't understand. Having gay marriage would also certainly be more preferable and less annoying than having gays being turned into victims and martyrs.

You are wrong. There would be almost nothing worse for our society than to call gay couples marriages.

The most important part of this debate is this:

Making gay marriage illegal **will not stop homosexuality.**

People say that gay marriage should not be allowed, complaining about how they have to see gay couples kissing in public areas and how that's so disgusting. Well, you think that making gay marriage illegal will stop that? You think homosexuals will stop dating, kissing, hugging? Homosexuality is a reality; we have to accept the fact that some people just are this way, and that there's nothing wrong with it, and more importantly, they are not going to go away. It makes me sad how close-minded some people can be, when it comes to this issue.

There are countless other reasons why making gay marriage illegal is ridiculous, too, but that's one of the more important ones. Another reason is this: People say two men living together raising a child is an "incorrect family structure." So what does that mean? Does it mean that a child whose mother died, and is now living with his father and grandfather, is living in an incorrect family structure? What about a kid who's living with his uncle and father? What about his mother and grandmother? The logic just boggles my mind.

Final note: If two homosexuals getting married really is a sin in the eyes of God, then shame on him, because that's just ridiculous. It's a good thing I'm nonreligious, because I couldn't imagine believing that we have a deity up above that is so close-minded.

Kenny: I'd like to see that in print, because I know of a bunch of kids that grew up in "gay" households who turned out just fine. We can agree that the most important thing is that the kids have loving parents, right? Can we at least agree that two loving fathers is better than one loving mother who's doing it all by herself?

And there's no difference between a male homosexual couple and, say, a father and his brother. The only difference would be that the father/brother pair wouldn't be romantically involved, obviously, and the gay couple would be. But who cares? Last time I checked, the child doesn't get to see what their parents do in the bedroom anyway, so what's the difference? You make it sound like the gay couple would be making out right on the kitchen floor in front of their kids.

Also, your argument that gay marriage will lead to polygamy is totally flawed, not to mention ridiculous. No one ever said anything about multiple partners. Again, that's like saying that you can't lower the voting age to 18, because then you'll have to lower it to 15, then 12, then 9, and then before you know it, toddlers will be voting. It doesn't work that way.

Well, I WOULD say that having same-sex people marry would ruin the word "marriage" and make into something not-sacred anymore. BUT, the divorce rate has already done that. The only difference is that gay people who marry are still living in sin, because the Bible says it's wrong to have sexual relations with someone of the same sex. Heterosexuals who marry aren't committing a sin just by being married, but homosexuals are. Do I personally have anything to lose? No. But society as a whole has a lot to lose by legalizing yet another immoral behavior.
You know, if same-sex marriages are legalized, I wonder what will happen to all the sodomy laws?? LOL!

Even though I'm not homosexual, I am for gay marriage. To each his own, I say. Religion has no business in politics...or anywhere else for that matter, besides in a church or in your own private home/mind. If there is a God, how do we really know what he wants us to do or how he wants us to live? The rules Christians live by today are from a book that has been written and rewritten time and time again by MAN...

And what about God creating each and every one of us in his own image...if a person is a homosexual, that's the way God willed him/her to be, right? What business does a human being have in judging and telling another human being that the way he lives is sinful? To those people I say, get out of other people's business and deal with your own life and so called "sins."

Gay marriage would benefit society. The Ban against Gay Marriage is religious based. Gays have lived together for many years and society has not suffered from it. It could only benefit society because any type of produce ---wee kens our country. We are made up of all races and when we fight with each other, we tear our country down and wee ken it. The ban against Gay Marriage is a denial of freedom to thousands of people. How can we go on like this and call us a Democracy

I am a Christian and I dont have a problem with the idea of gay marriage any more than I have a problem with remarriage. The Bible says homosexuality is a sin, and it also says adultery is a sin, and Jesus said that if a man divorce his wife and she remarries, she commits adulterly. Both homosexuality and adultery were punishable by death and called "detestable" in the OT but If I dont have problems with one personally then I shouldnt have a problem with the other. Pastors perform 2nd and 3rd (and more) marriages all the time even though Jesus said this was adultery. So really they should rally against that also if they're going to rally against gay marriages. But in my opinion in both cases... its between the couple and God and as much as I dont want anyone to tell me who I can spend my life with, I will not tell them either. "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you"

Because God Himself instituted marriage between MAN and WOMAN. Man has not the right to change what God ordained. Of course man can change the laws here on this earth, to allow legal marriages between gays, but the marriage certificate would be a worthless peice of paper in Gods eyes. God will never honor same sex marriages. God does not change. As far as I know, politics was nowhere around when God instituted marriage in Eden, so it was never a political issue to begin with. Being gay is a sin, but as far as God goes, He is able, and can forgive that sin, just as He can forgive all sins. If we allow same sex marriage, we may as well go one step farther and change The Lords Supper, ( that Jesus instituted ). We could change the wine to beer and the unleavened bread to pretzels!! Now how silly is that?? THINK ABOUT It !! Marriage is not something man has dreamed up, or came up with during all the generations since Eden. Marriage belongs to God, only!

When we say homosexuality is wrong and gay marriage even more so, it is because we try to save their souls. God has forbidden it, also it is written "Homosexuals shall not inherit the kingdom of heaven. God created mankind in his image. Is God a homosexual? Besides are they not going against the commandment "Honour they father and mother so that thy days may be long in the land the Lord your God giveth you.? What kind of an example is this to the future generation. If God in his wisdom has forbidden it, why do we think we are greater in wisdom than He? Homosexuals are hardly martyrs or victims, they do recruit and I would say they make others their victims. They are dishonouring the Lord's name and doing away with that Christ gave His life willingly that we could walk in newness of life as He told the adulteress, "Go and sin no more."

The Christian churches all have an "us vs. them" mentality. Its the only way to keep the congregation paying for their palaces.

The "them" has changed frequently over the years:
pagans
witches
Jews
Muslims
Buddhists
communists
blacks
native americans
mayans
aztecs
eskimos
women
scientists
homosexuals

The list could go on & on & on........ but I'm tired of typing.

In order to have an "US" the church has to create a "THEM" to be hated/feared. It is no longer 'pc' to publicly hate the other groups any more, so they focus their public hate/fear on the homosexuals. They still hate/fear all the other groups, they just don't make a lot of noise about it anymore.

The obvious answer is YES, its ok to be a homosexual in a straight world. There are many of your type out there and you just need to look a bit deeper and you will soon find the love of you fantasies. You may find someone but he turns out to be straight but keep trying, never give up and never forget who you are...

You go girlfriend!
