Sometimes my cockatiel puts his wings directly behind his back, he does this sometimes when there is music/voices and other times when nothing is going on. What does this mean?

We've had him about a day.

I did a ton of research, but this behavior wasn't mentioned anywhere.

Thanks for the help!

This is just a stretch not to worry. I have also heard that this relieves tension and so probably he is starting to feel okay around voices and music and is jus relieving his tension (comforting himself in a way). But if he does this alot and pants at the same time then he could be overheated, Try going to the library and taking out a lot of cockatiel books. I find them very useful when bringing home a first pet.

He's stretching the muscles in his wings. You should go get a book or do some research to learn more about cockatiels.

If you're keeping him in a small cage it could also be to excercise his wings.
