The simple answers here are correct - eat less, exercise more.

I will give some further advice though.

To make it work, try to find some healthy foods you like and incorporate them into your diet.

With the exercise also, you are more likely to succeed if you exercise with a friend, and particularly if you can find something that you really enjoy.

With the diet, do not be silly, eat good food, cut down snacks and fatty foods, drink more water.

Do some weight training too. You might feel upset if your weight doesnt drop as quickly, but if you are increasing your muscle mass, you will burn more calories all the time. A bigger engine uses more petrol.

Overall, you should aim to develop good habits and a trend towards weight loss rather than expecting immediate results. Maybe you could make some good changes, concentrate on the positive feeling and health that will bring, and look at the weight loss after a few months.

I guarantee that if you are serious about it and do not cheat, you will have positive health benefits within one month, and within six you will notice an enormous difference (if you'll pardon the pun ; ) .

I found the book to be very informative and easy to read.

I've lost 17 pounds in 12 days, I'm just concerned that I'm losing too much weight, too quickly. I will admit I haven't followed the guide exactly. I'm not sticking perfectly to the listed foods and meal plans (but mostly) and doing very little exercise, but the weight keeps flying off.

It clearly works and if I'd followed it exactly I think it would scare the living daylights out of me because of the amount that I'd lose. So thanks again for the information. I've never purchased anything like this before because they are usually full of trash, but 3WD has been a pleasant surprise.

I am 52 years old and decided to lose weight. I have lost 8 pounds so far in a week and a half.
The way i did it was to eat just half of what I normally ate. Also I ate every 3 hours. That is working for me.
Pick good snacks like yogurt instead of ice cream.
Good Luck
There is a book out about 3 hour diet

I would join a sports team. Choose a sport that you like. Inactivity is a big culprit in the weight gain battle. Tryto eat healthy foods, not a lot of sugar and no white flour. Watch the calories that you get from drinks. They can sneak up on you. Try not to eat past 6 pm. And eat healthy snacks--not ones with a lot of fat. And stay away from fried foods. You'll see the pounds drop off.

Here is what you need to do, if you are serious about losing weight and keeping it off. Eat 6 small meals a day about every 4 hours. Here what that will do for you, your metabolism will increase (i.e. Loose weight) and you will have more engry. If you go on a diet and eat less, your metabolism will slow down and store to fat. That is why diets dont work. Only the size of your fist, carbs (examples:baked potato, pasta, oatmeal, beans, corn, melon, apples, fat free yogurt, whole wheat breads)in one and protien (examples:chicken breast, swordfish, shrimp, turkey breast) in the other. You can also eat vegetables and salads with any meal, they dont have none or little fat). 30min cardo exercise every day. Any of these(examples: walking, jogging, swimming, running, biking, ect), Monday cardo, tues upper body (arms: curls, tricep extensions, pull ups, front press)(abdominals: leg pull crunch, leg raises), (chest: bench press, butterfly, pullover)(shoulders: front press, arm pullover, cross county skier machine)(back:seated row, lat pull downs, back extension)(YOU DONT HAVE TO DO IN ONE DAY, mix it up) wed cardo, thurs lower body (legs: leg pull, leg press, squats, lounges) fri cardo, sat upper. Sunday eat anything you want and dont exercising, you do this on sunday so your body doesnt go into starvation mode. YOU NEED TO TAKE SUNDAY OFF. If you stilck with this you will have a great body. also drink aleast 8oz of water daily! Stay away from Mcdonals, Wendys, ect because there is nothing good for you on the menu's even the salads are bad (beaon bits, cheeze, dressing, ect) Good Luck :)

Stop eating foods that contain sugar. Read ingredient lablels. Cut down the fat in your diet. Eat more skimmed milk, whole grains, such as oatmeal, and vegetables. Make fresh fruit your only snack. Get eight hours of sleep a night (which helps you metabolize calories) and drink eight glasses of water.

Then, excercise for one solid hour each day. Exercise to the point of heavy perspiration. The best fat-burner is jogging or running.

Best of luck!

Exercise, weight training, and stay away from soda and sweets. Do fun exercises with your fav music. Get some 5 lb. hand weights and a good exercise dvd. Most of all, have fun doing it and be consistent, like 3 to 4 times a week.

Here's one way: Start with BCAAs (Branch Chain Amino Acids) and Acetyl-L-Carnitine. Some protein powders (whey) are good and have these nutrients. Green tea is good too if you can stomach it. These will help you gain the energy and protein you need to exercise and work out.
You need to build more muscle. The more muscle mass you have the more fat your body will burn. Forget 'eat less' and 'low fat'. Just try to eat healthier and add good fats to your diet (Omega 3's like in flax or fish oil, and wholesome saturated fats like organic coconut oil and butter. Also olive oil is good but don't heat it up to much. Avoid trans-fats and ANYTHING with or cooked in partially hydrogenated vegetable oil. Try to replace sugars with fruits whenever you can.
As you gain energy you'll naturally eat less.
Best of luck and health!

First thing you need to tell yourself is that you are not "overweight" you are "overfat".
Ex: You workout for 2 months and have doubled your muscular strength but weigh the same. Are you not more muscular?

Minimize carbs, maximize protein, and do some serious aerobic and toning exercises
:-)
Good Luck!!
