It's great to focus on school, that's not a bad thing at all. If you do well this year, you can always do a sport next year, and as far as making friends, it will come naturally. You have to remember that the other kids are just as nervous as you are right now. High school is fun, it will just take awhile to get used to. Thr 4 years goes by fast, make sure to enjoy it and have fun! Good luck!

It's like elementary school, except that all the shy people turn outgoing, all the outgoing people turn shy, everyone goes through a rough time in the tenth grade, and things seem a lot more serious. Also, you either do a lot of things for the first time, or you decide that you aren't ready to do those things, or they just don't appeal to you. The bullying is less focused on a whole group, and more focused on a single person. Appearances become more important. You will feel like you have to start dating or else you aren't "good enough" (not true). You'll often feel alone - you aren't. You'll underestimate how much people will accept you if you stand up for yourself. In the eleventh grade you'll have a lot of amazing moments; you'll hit your stride. And in twelfth grade, you'll realize that there is a bigger thing out there, that you've survived, and you can change the world around you.

I too was nervous when i was entering High school, just go with the flow, don't worry about what other people think of you. No, it's not a bad thing, that you want to focus on school, that's a great goal. You will be more calm after the first week once you get around. Try to talk to other people that are shy and try to help them too, with their nervousness.
Good Luck and Don't give up! : )

I just got done with that. Its the same as your other schools except everyone is bigger than you and you get called a freshman a lot. You make friends by just talking to people in your classes. Don't worry high school is fun!

Honestly, you should just be yourself. I know it will be difficult entering high school with a bunch of people you don't know, but it's a change for the good. As some advice, choose your friends wisely. If you choose friends who are going to bring your character down...then high school will suck butt. Focus on the last four years of your Secondary schooling, and make them count.
Good luck!

Don't even try. High school is a hell on earth and either you will fail it, drop out and end up with some kind of brain, or you will be forever warped into some kind of messed up robot of society! You will be beaten up, possibly raped, and truly learn to hate the human race as you never imagined you could!

Your most important year is junior year for college. I would join sports this year to pad your resume for college. Join clubs and get involved. Show you can commit to one club and stay with it all of highschool.

ok now since i realize you're a girl, here's new advice. yes, concentrate alot on schoolwork, but also join some clubs. join the track team, because it's easy to get into and you get medals. it also builds a nice butt for guys to look at.
also, start studying for the sats. memorize as much sat vocabulary as you possibly can.
