I think that I would be...especially if a lot of my friends were willing to do this for me.
I don't know if they really do this in court; maybe I've seen too much television.

I mean, I don't know if they really call on witnesses to verify that the defendant is really considered "insane."

Well, in actual fact, unless you were a court-accepted professional, you wouldn't be allowed to give testimony as to the sanity or otherwise of your friend.

Nice padded room can sleep anywhere on the floor vs. small cot or bunk bed with a lovely pal who may try to kill you to share the small room with. If a friend is trying to plead insane you shouldn't be worried about whether it would insult him because obviously he wants to get out of prison in exchange for mental hospital, but rather are you being truthful under oath if you know the person is stable you should not testify that they are insane, but rather a more diplomatic route of I have never observed anything either way.

No he is going insane he has no brain he is insane in the membrane so tell him he is perfectly normal and contradict whatever he thinks and do not help him out whatsoever or else he might really think he is crazy.
