It could be any number of things. I had years of calculus that I couldn't pick back up without some review because I haven't used it in about 15 years. Things that you don't use often become, for lack of a better word, rusty. Sometimes lack of sleep can affect memory, also some medications or extreme stress. If you find that you are often confused, or can't remember really important basic things then you need to talk with your doctor.

Lack of practice. Maths takes practice and unless you did a lot of that in school so it became second nature to you it is always possible you will forget. The more complicated it is the easier it is to forget. You can do basis addition and subtraction but Calculus is a problem because Calculus is complicated and uses concepts that you don't use daily. You use addition and subtraction daily though. If you want to remember the things that you learnt in High School then revise the subject - that's the only way. Everbodies memory leaks so don't worry.

Not enough details but depending on the degree of forgetfulness it may or may not be of clinical significance. Have the person see a good Family Physician or a Neurologist. NOT a General Practitioner or you will never find a good answer to your question.

never look at things like this lightly either... hopfully the person is just forgeting a few things to get the math problem right. but maybe have them go to a get a mental heath check-up would be a great idea...

Overt stress can affect the memory.

Nothing is wrong. With practice she will remember these things again, it's all practice.
