that can depend on if you believe them or not
all families have their ups and downs with some getting on better together than some of the others
i have observed tho that most extended families tend to be held together by a matriarchal figure in some form or other and stick by each other through the not so smiley times too
others just have a 'front' for outsiders whilst they are constantly bickering and sniping behind the scenes
you cant always know - but the best families are those that can show love to those who need a family environment but aren't necessarily born part of that particular family

It's funny to me that there are so many unhappy people in this world. I come from a family of 5 bros, & 3 sis. We are step ladder kids ( to the uneducated, this means that we were born one year apart, one behind the other). While we have/had our disagreements we love each others company. We get together as often as we can, & reminiece about our childhood, and the life. Enjoy LIFE people! Especially with your family!!!

Yes, I was apart of a happy family on both ends-growing up and in my marriage. like behind every dark cloud there's a silver lining! Behind every smile there's a dark secret. I've never understood why people kept up appearances for the public. Maybe it's the pressure to be perfect, no one wants to be portrayed as dysfunctional.......I'm always suspicious of family's that are constantly putting that extra effort to be perfect.

No, what's wrong with a family who actually loves each other, cares about each other and gets along??? That is what family is all about, they are the people who will be there for you no matter what, thick and thin, good and bad. Families are built on foundations of love, trust and respect for each other if they're raised right. Friends come and go but family is forever.

Boy, I never realized that there were so many unhappy people. That's sad that you people can't enjoy your families. After reading some of the responses to this question I no longer wonder why our world is going down the toilet. If a person can't enjoy their family then what have they got left?

No, our family is like that and we are all very close. We even went on a cruise together (32 of us) and had a great time. Anyone who has been to any of our family gatherings knows we have nothing to hide as well because we talk and laugh about everything!

Are you saying there isnt such a thing as happiness? My family smiles and chooses to spend time together. All families have problems, but that doesnt mean you spend all your time bickering and being miserable!

My family is generally a happy one. We have our problems just like any other, but we always try our best to work through them. I do have to say that in this day and age it is harder to find. Somewhere along the way people have lost site of values in general. It is sad. They find it so much easier to give in to temptation, or just to give up completely, instead of working to keep the relationship a healthy one.

No. Why bother? It's not my problem whether other families are happy or not, and it strikes me as a pointless waste of effort to be suspicious of them.

They are the ones with the most skeletons in their closets. They like to make people think they are sooo happy.
