Bible is a collection of books written by different authors. In the sense, it is God's book. However, You must consider that the bible is written by the mortals. The bible is their expression of faith to God. That is why, the Bible is "divine and human". It is divine because the author is inspired by God, and at the same time, it is human because the mortals are the writers of the Bible. Remember that, even if the bible was written by the mortals, it is still considered as God's book because the mortals who wrote the Bible is directly inspired by God.

Show me any religious text WRITTEN by their God and you will find a mortal's writing.
There is no such book written by an omniscient being.
So why question just Christians?
Christians actually confirm that it wasn't written by God, but his followers. There is no conspiracy there.
With that in mind, you SHOULD question the contents of any book that claims to be God's word. Really; how could you prove it is or it isn't? Most likely, you cannot.
Therefore you would need to CHOOSE to have faith and believe it is God's word or dismiss it all together. Man does have free will.

The bible IS god's word,
true, as you say, it wasn't cast down from heaven, but it was written by inspired worshipers of god, holy spirit inspired the book writers to write as god wanted it to be done.
think about this.
No other book in history has been around so long, and so wide spread than the bible, no book has had so many years put between each part of it, no book has had so many authors with so many different backgrounds and ideas, and still fitted so well together as the bible. the bible has prophesy after prophesy that is accurately described and full filled in each book, the writing style all is around the same, and the book's message is perfectly coordinated.
the bible tells things that modern day science took years on years to find out. (ex: the world is round, not flat)
the bible, for told things, Over thousands of years in advance before they happened, the fall of Babylon was for told perfectly, DOWN TO THE MAN WHO DID IT.
their are alot more things, but i think i gave you enough of an ear full to work with for now.
i hope that awnsered your question, if you ahve any more questions or comments on te matter, feel free to IM me about it, i'd be glad to help.

When people accept the Lord, they become inflicted with the Holy Spirit, God sent the Spirit to those that wrote the books of the Bible, to guide them on what to write, THIS IS GODS WORD, DIRECTLY FROM GOD TO US, THROUGH THE HOLY SPIRIT. It has been examined many times so that all was written in truth, and anything etchy was taken out, most was written by a witness at the time of Christs life, or an apostle, for authenticy.

Bible was inspired by God through the centuries to the profets and writters. That is a matter of Faith, if you have Faith you can belive this.
In fact it is not only a book, by definition is a collection of books (Biblion in Greek means book and Bible means collection of books)
All such books were written in different moments by different people collecting the revelations that God made to his town in history, ending up with the revelation provided by the son of god.

God has terrible handwriting. He had to send Joseph Smith a special magical crystal somethingorother to translate the book of Mormon, and he didn't even try with the longer Quran, just had Gabriel dictate it to Muhammed.
One of the darkest secrets of early Judaism is that Moses sent down an early proof of the Ten Commandments for copyediting, and Aaron misread "Thou shalt not make a graven image" as "They so hot makin a groovy image", and acted accordingly. Thousands of people died in the subsequent smiting.

and Lo, the Lord did look apon his new Bible, and did smile. Yea, for it was full of truth, and would reshape the world into a better place. But Satan, that deceiver, did disguise himself as a fed-ex driver, and the book was lost in transit. So the Lord did send it in e-mail form, and it did get lost a bit in the translation. he being a Mac user, and all others were bound to a true Creature of the Dark, Windows.

The Holy Bible was sent by God. He inspired the human "authors" to use their hands to "write" the truths that God ordained.
There are no factual examples, to my knowledge, in any religion, of an artifact "sent" from heaven.

There was something in the Bible where somebody went to Hell and wanted Abraham to tell his brothers that God really existed and that the brother wanted to tell his other brothers to belive in God.
Then Abraham answered that it was because he didn't want them to believe because they of proof, they wanted to believe becuase of faith and belief. So that answers your question.
One reason why the Bible was written by the Christians and mortals and not from Heaven and/or God, is because God wants everyone to believe in him because of faith and belief, not because of proof.
