put them there for a reason. If you are not going to bother reading the paperwork or take the pills right why bother taking them at all?

Well, Lisa, that Gobblygook in the pamhplet is not all stuff people with a 3rd grage education cannot understand. It says what you should do if you miss a pill, are on antibiotics, and how long you should use other forms of birth control before you are protected.

It just seems like there are so many questions on here like "What do I do if I forget to take a pill", or "Do antibiotics effect the pill", or "I have only been on the pillfor a few days, can I have sex without getting pregnant" all that is covered in the pamphlet

Yep, I read it. It makes for interesting bathroom reading!!

But seriously, I do review it about every 6 months to make sure there's nothing new and to refresh myself on the dos & don'ts as well as any new symptoms/interactions I might need to be aware of (like the weakening of the Pill from the use of St. John's Wort for example - yes my pamplet actually included that as a contranadiction!).

I think EVERYONE should read the pamplet at least once a year - self-education is a good thing!!

You don't need to read all that gobbledygook to know how to take a pill every day. Most of that pamphlet is filled with technical stuff nobody understands and side effects that rarely ever effect anyone. The important points should be covered by the doctor prescribing the pills and questions can always be asked at the pharmacy too.

P.S.... the what to do if you miss a pill, etc. is a small portion of the pamphlet. Yes, that is important, but one would hope the doctor has already informed the patient about what to do in this situation. In any case, the majority of the pamphlet IS junk.

I read the paperwork cover to cover before I took my first birth control pill and I review it when necessary. I keep it handy right on my living room table.

I'm a male, and I found those instructions very very helpful and informative. Almost all the information on there is pertinent and valuable. I suggest that all couples read them together so that they can assure that they are used properly, and so that no mistakes are made.

I agree 100%. If you aren't sure about something, read the pamphlet.
