I don't do the astrology/horoscope/Ouija scene, but I have become very interested in what my dreams mean. I've been looking up my dreams in a dream interpretation book. Is this occult?
On one hand, God used dreams to communicate with His followers back in the Biblical times. But on the other hand, when relying on these dream interpretation books, I'm in turn relying on information from human beings who are very unlikely to have been lead by God when writing the interpretations down.
In God's eyes, is this considered dabbling in the occult?

Dream interpretation in the Freudian/Jungian tradition is therapy, anything else is pure nonsense.

From a Christian perspective it is perfectly acceptable. The Bible contains many instances of prophets interpreting dreams. One example is Joseph, who after being sold by his jealous brothers into Egypt, interprets Pharoahs dreams, which foretell of even years of plenty followed by seven years of famine. Joseph suggests, and is then put in charge of, storing part of what is harvested during the years of plenty. When the years of famine come, they are prepared.

That being said, it doesn't mean that just anyone interpreting just any dream is the same thing.

No it is not... so long as whatever interpretation method you use is based on psychological scientific principles (like Freud, Jung etc.) then its alright. Its mind science (the workings of the mind)...not occult.

I never knew that there were occult practices anyways for dream interpretation.

Dream interpretation is a science of a mind. Besides, as you said God has also used that method to communicate lots of people in the Bible.

Joseph in the old and new testaments. However, nowadays, God rarely communicate with people like that. Dreaming is a subconscious mind talking in the sleep. It is about individual thinking. Of course, there are times dreams have no meaning, just how we reflected from actual events and media effects

I don't think so. I believe that there once was a man in the old testament that was saved from death by helping a king interpret his dreams... :-) look it up.

God Bless

IT DEPENDS ON THE PERSON YOU ARE GETTING YOUR INTERPRETATION FROM... DO THEY BEAR THE FRUITS OF THE SPIRIT? DO THEY LIVE THEIR LIVES HONORING GOD IN THE THINGS THEY DO AND SAY? ARE THEIR STANDARDS GOD'S STANDARDS OR THE WORLDS STANDARDS?

GOD DOES GIVE US DREAMS AND LIKE YOU SAID ITS VERY BIBLICAL. EVEN KING NEBUKADEZZAR (DID I SPELL THAT RIGHT? LOL) HAD DANIEL INTERPRET HIS DREAM. THE BIBLE IS A MORE SURE WORD OF PROPHECY... THERE IS A GOOD SITE THAT I KNOW OF THAY GIVES SOUND BIBLICAL INTERPREATATION OF DREAMS.. IF YOU WANT IT FEEL FREE TO CONTACT ME.

OVER THE YEARS I HAVE ALLOWED THE HOLY SPIRIT TO MINISTER TO ME IN DREAMS AS HE GIVES ME THE INTERPRETATIONS. SOMETIMES THE DREAMR GETS THE MOST ACCURATE INTERPRETATION AS IT IS DIRECTED TOWARDS THE DREAMERS OWN LIFE USUALLY

""Christian perspective please: Is dream interpretation considered occult?""

NOPE!

Just the same as defragging your computer.

Your brain is defragging - and you want to interpret it!

Waste of time! Big $$$$$$$$$$$$ Con Job.

You probably wouldn't be asking if you didn't feel convicted. It is better to learn to hear right from the source, learn what the "spirit is saying." Ask God about it...
