The Bible tells us, that if we are repentent, and regretful, we will be forgiven.
It also tells us that all sins are equal, and not seperated into little sins, or big sins.
Now, if all that is true:
Most people, if they murdered anouther, they regret it, and wish they had not, so they can be forgiven.
Most people, will use the name of The LORD in vain without a second thought.
Now, looking at these two things as the Bible says, and not which is right, and wrong in ones morals, which is worse?
Yes, i asked this earlier, but have yet to get a decent response.

A little hell fire to teach them a lesson?Study the bible more closer, and study the meaning of the word ''hell''.Hell is enternal death, it is not eternal agony.
To back up this theory, think about this, If The LORD is such a merciful, kind, caring, loving ruler, then why would he damn people to enternal pain for maybe 80 years of sinning?

agreed,
however, all sins are equal in the fact they are all sins and wicked in god's eyes, but as for equal to human morality, it seems to not be the case.
lieing, stealing, cheating, and even immorality, are all things people do with litte regret for the most part, and like you brought out, slandering and using the name of god in vain, is all to common.
people now aday's seem to have lost all sence of right and wrong, and don't care one way or the other about what is wicked and what isn't.
mostly because
'everyone is doing it'.
the bible forwarned this,
2timothy 3: 1-5 'But know this, that in the last days critical times hard to deal with will be here. 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, self-assuming, haughty, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, disloyal, 3 having no natural affection, not open to any agreement, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, without love of goodness, 4 betrayers, headstrong, puffed up [with pride], lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godly devotion but proving false to its power; and from these turn away.'
how true that all is!. god's laws on sin still apply, yet human morality is at a all time low.
i fully agree with you on that, all sins are sins to god, but humans just don't look at it that way anymore.

Well as you say the bible says that all sins are equal so if you are planning on committing one why not make it really big? Then if you join the Roman Catholic Church you can get immediate absolution from your local priest and .... do it again.
Just make sure that you are really, really regretful each time and that you promise you will never ever let it happen again. In times gone by it used to be even easier than it is now. Just give a wad of money to the Church and hey presto! all your sins were forgiven. They called it selling indulgences. Apparently they used to have special offers so for an advance payment you could get absolution for three sins for the price of two. Then Luther upset the business by saying it wasn't holy. When did Holiness have anything to do with it? I am sure if you send off a check to any of the TV evangelists e.g. Magee, Robertson etc. you would have forgiveness by return of post.
So don't worry whatever you do there are always priests around who will have a word with the guy upstairs for you and will secure forgiveness every time - for a price.

Hello, I've read and re - read all of your details. So what was your question?
Is it? ;-
How wrong is it to sin?
What is sin?
Are some sins worse than others?
Can sins ever be classified as normal human behaviour?
Can a sin in one culture be perfectly acceptable as a good deed in another?
Are spiritual norms to be regarded as the moral norms for a modern society?
Sin is a concept but is the concept of good or evil interchangeable with age, (Childhood, young person, adult) timing political distress ie war, history, ie history of race?
Your question was to vague to truly warrant any debate on what is sin.
The bible is open to interpretation and human error.
The majority of what it says is meant to be taken literally and not factually. For example if your right hand knows not what your left hand is doing than remove it. Seems a bit drastic does it not. Similar an eye for an eye a tooth for a tooth. This flies in the face of your naive classification of sins being equal, when they are obviously not.
Many christians use the lords name in vain, it is a figure of speech and not meant in a derogatory fashion to insult anyone with a faith.
A murderer sentenced to life in prison will spend that time with his conscience, he may be sorry to have committed the act of murder - he may be not. Irrespective of this, forgiveness and forgetfulness are two very difficult things to expect from the victims family and friends and might never happen. A murder will always be someones loss and cause of unnecessary bereavement.
Whatever form of socialisation you have undergone during your childhood, is the provider of your indiginous moral fibre and over all sense of what is right and what is wrong.
But again your question is still vague. Best of luck in reaching a conclusion.

Any negative action , if by body, speech or mind, has an effect on everyone. Jesus Christ, has been trying to teach us this from day one, instead we believe that any effect of our actions was gods will, or any negativity can only be forgiven the God. What a lovely arm chair beleive that is.
We need to take responsibility of our actions in the first place. If we are born in the image of God, then we all bear his seed of sublime love and sublime compassion for all. JC has tried to teach us that we should think of other before we think of ourselves, with this understanding we would never want to commit an act of any kind that could hurt another being in anyway. That we should not discriminate against others. Yet time and time again this sin is committed by everyone, in particular those who keep misinterpreting the word of God again and again.
The importance is not being able to quote the bible word perfect, but to understand it. Not to paraphrase like demented parrot, but live it.

I'll be one of the first ones to admit I threw around the lord's name in vain without thinking twice. Yes it still slips sometimes but I've gotten better!
What makes you think people don't regret saying it?
We're all born with a sinful nature since Eve at the apple.
I confess sometimes I say it now, and when I say it right off the bat I don't regret it, but later on I totally do! That is a problem with me and a lot of people I know though, I don't want to confess to God I am wrong. And normally after I do something like that, or I say something mean to someone, I try to hide because I'm ashamed of my self! Yeah I meant it 100% at the moment. But I don't now, I'm sorry for it now after I see how it affected my relationship with God to the point to where I feel like I have to hide.

Unfortunately the Bible is a whole mess of rules in the old testament for the jewish people. I see your predicament, though. And to take it a step further, some beleive that to even think about commiting a sin is the same as to do it. To that one I say, may as well do it. There's not stopping the mind from thinking some things. Like to look at a guy and think, "Oh, yum." is the same as to jump him there and then - may as well jump him! lol
Seriously, I truly beleive that you need to just live life being as decent to your fellow human and animal beings as you possibly can. Enjoy life to it's fullest and make the people around you happy. Could God really want more?

That's right IF we are truly repentant God will wipe away any sin. However, in this world we are under the laws of our country and I've seen the father of a murdered daughter tell the killer he forgave him through his tears. Society might feel uncomfortable if anybody could murder someone, claim they're sorry and be free to possibly murder again. If someone steals and wrecks a car yes God will show mercy if sincere, but the victim might not.

In God's eyes a sin is a sin and it dont matter what it is. Now people are the other way around. One is way worse than the other. If it were up to us the murder would rot in hell forever. This is where god steps in. If you are truly sorry, and he will know if your not, he will forgive you and welcome you with open arms. You must be sincere and have your whole heart in it or it dont count. You see people who continue to do the same sin over and over again do not regret it and are repenting for it knowing they are going to do it again on purpose, so i believe he doesnt forgive you until you really mean it and try really hard not to do it again.

I have got the updated version of the bible;it says
1-all sins are not equal, some are major, some minor
2-merely thinking does not constitute a sin, unless translated into action
3) all sins are forgiven except those commited against fellow human. In this case, the person must obtain forgiveness from among fellow human first before being forgiven by God.
4)A person can not forgive others for their sins except to those sin related to the injustice done unto him.
5)The biggest sin in not to know your God,the second being to associate him with worldly creatures

What you deem worse depends on how you interpret the bible as it contradicts itself quite a lot. i suppose in the eyes of God both are as bad as each other, as they are both sins and both require absolution or at least regret. In the legal or moral sense murder is obviously worse. However, i think if you believe in God strongly enough to be worying about the answer to this question, you should believe that God does not require perfection, and saying "Oh God" won't condemn you to hellfire. Although that's probably where i'm heading anyway with or without my blasphemy!

Firstly, I think it is great that you want a serious answer to this question.
In Biblical terms, they are both sins - which means they both separate us from the love of God, so in that respect they are equal and neither is worse than the other.
If we are sorry then we can we can be forgiven, but only because Jesus died for our sins.
There is a lot of information and discussion on this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sin#Defined_types_of_sin
I would like to answer and research this question more fully - but it is late and I am tired and not at my best now - so hopefully I will have the opportunity to do this tomorrow.
Hope this helps:>)
