My philosophy on those questions, is to lie through your teeth. The last thing they want, is an honest opinion.
That dreaded question, do I look fat in this skirt, when they honestly know that they do already.
It's a short trip to Hell on Earth, if you say she does.
So, lie, lie, and lie again, to make your life bearable.

Oh yeah... But you have to keep something in mind. Tact and diplomacy go a long way.
You can be honest and considerate
OR
Honest and insulting.
For instance, if someone is wearing an outfit that magnifies their large figure and looks horrible you could say:
"No, I don't like it. It really doesn't compliment you at all. I would recommend trying something else"
Or you could say
"Hell no, it makes you look fat."
Both are honest opinions, one is more polite than the other. The problem with most people today is that they don't understand you can still be polite when you are being honest.

No, but I know what you are talking about! I sometimes question my husband on certain things. I tell him to please be honest, and I won't be mad. Then being the honest person that he is, he answers truthfully. I still sometimes end up hurt by the answer, and can't help to be upset or angry. So it takes me a day or two to get over it. I try and keep in mind that I should be so proud to be with a man who can be honest. I've really gotten better at it. Sometimes you can't help but to be hurt by things. Good luck....:)

YES.......Like the honest opinion I give to people who write on Yahoo. I have never been exposed to so many screwed up people in my life. Most just don't get it..........and, sorry to say, most are women or girls!!! Someone has to try to guide them in the right direction!!! What's a mother to do????

Happens all the time to people.
It's best, when asked for an honest opinion, to tell them that you may or may NOT, depending upon whether you think you will hurt their feelings.
Then... if you can't tell them without making them feel bad, just tell them you'd rather stay out of their business.

Sure have....but that shouldn't deter you from not giving a honest opinion. Keep up the good work...it'll pay off.

nicely, some people have stalkers that detest them and it would not remember what they stated it should be an automated thumbs down. i wager they make certain their entire existence circles round those dumb thumbs and they could basically be beaten in the adventure that they were given a thumbs down. that's form of humorous extremely.

Ha yes. It made me so mad. I have learned that when people say "honest" they mean "nice, yet informative."
