My daughter is 9 yo and up until my son was born 14 months ago it was just her and me. She seems to be very jealous of him recently. Even acting like a baby at times. I have tried setting aside time every day for just her and me where we can talk about her day and do each others hair...things like that. I am very aware of the time I am spending with each child but since my son is walking and into everything he does get more of my attention right now. If you've been in this situation, please give me some ideas to help my daughter not be so jealous and act her age. I hate to see her upset like she is. Thanks you.

Ignore your daughters bad behavior.. she's acting like a brat to get your attention. Children need to be taught that you wont come running to their side every time they whine or cry or throw a tantrum. I'm not saying not to give your daughter attention, and definitely keep setting aside time for you and her, like when your son is sleeping and you can focus on just her.. maybe even find a sitter and take her out once a week.. but when she throws a tantrum.. take that privilege away.. or she will go thru life thinking that being a baby is the way to getting what you want

I have a little sister. She is 8 yrs younger. And to be honest I hated her from about 2 until she turned 14 or 15. We fought all the time. My parents always said "she's only a baby" and did so untill she was 20. I know I was very jealous and resented her. Our peds dr told mom that it was like having 2 only children. After she got older we found out we had thing in common. It will take time and patience. I would talk to your peds dr maybe he will have some suggestion or maybe go to the library they may have books that could help. I just wanted to let you know it does end eventually. Good Luck

Have you tried to have her help with the baby? Tell her that you sure could use her help. Let it be something easy, then let her know how much help she was. That way she thinks (and maybe is), helping bring-up baby.
