Problem with registry files?

Question

Whenever i try to open a .reg file it opens it with Notepad..=p wasn't it supposed to ask me whether i want to install it or add it to the registry or something like that?

Probably u had made a setting as to open the .reg file (registry file open with notepad by default) or else the file is not with the extension .reg check it. if u r sure it is a .reg file then u just right click on it and say merge it will merge into the registry.
